In May 1915, Italy entered the First World War declaring war on Austria-Hungary. Much of the front ran along the alpine ridge, at altitudes where it was never thought that man could fight. Those tragic years left indelible traces on the Dolomites, the most beautiful mountains in the world: trenches, forts, walkways, emplacements, ossuaries, museums, outdoor museums. I will take you in cohosting with Elena, my wife, to visit these places of memory telling you about the First World War in the high mountains.
