Beachfront holiday rental in Ambalangoda

Chathura is a great person to work with, he is very knowledgeable about the surroundings, very friendly and go out of the way to help me. I highly recommend anyone to stay at his place. I stayed 5 days at his place, I was very comfortable in taking local buses to visit surrounding areas beaches. Beautiful beaches in this part of the world. I enjoyed visiting every beaches that I could visit. In short I have a pleasant stay at his place.

Wow wow, we had an incredible stay! The housekeeper Ari and his wife amita were so so kind, the oceanfront location was impeccable, we had an issue with the electric, but thanks to Rebecca’s quick and helpful service it was taken care of promptly and professionaly, I would highly recommend this property!

Мы провели в этом доме целый месяц и остались в восторге! Просторный, уютный, с прекрасной чилл-зоной у реки, где можно расслабиться и насладиться природой. Особенно понравилась крыша – идеальное место для занятий йогой. Кухня полностью оборудована, так что готовить было удобно. Кровати в спальнях комфортные, спалось отлично. До пляжа всего 5-7 минут пешком, а до серф-спота в Велигаме – около 25 минут. В целом, это был замечательный опыт, и мы благодарны хозяевам за гостеприимство!

It was a pleasure to stay here. We had everything we needed. Nihal helped a lot: with transfers, sightseeing, food, house, etc. We didn't have any problems. He's a great host! I highly recommend it!

Wir hatten eine wunderschöne woche am sauberen ruhigen strand. Sind jede nacht mit dem rauschen der wellen eingeschlafen. Das frühstück konnten wir uns auf nachfrage individuel zusammen stellen lassen. Uns wurde mit salz, pfeffer und öl zum kochen ausgeholfen. Sowie mit zusätzliches datenvolumen für das wlan. Sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Haben die zeit dort sehr genossen!!! Karo und thorge

Best place to stay in Marissa….family had a great time…perfectly matches the phots and descriptions. I would definitely recommend this place. Very very proactive host goes out of his way to help the customer. Very close to the beach 🏖️.

Мы провели здесь месяц – это почти идеальное место! Интернет идеальный для работы, в т.ч. с видеозвонками. Удобная кровать с новым матрасом. Ванная комната – восторг! Туалет и душ отделены друг от друга, а горячая вода – это действительно горячая вода в безлимитном количестве и с великолепным напором. На кухне есть все, кроме турки для приготовления кофе, но это мелочь. С собаками мы подружились и часто играли. Они действительно лают, но только когда кто-то приходит, что в нашем случае происходило очень редко. Хозяева – прекрасные люди, общаться по всем вопросам было легко и приятно. Между нашими и соседними апартаментами нет шумоизоляции за счет тонкой двери в смежной стене. Мы сняли и эти апартаменты тоже и использовали их как отдельный рабочий кабинет. Когда на виллу кто-то приезжает, слышно абсолютно все, что происходит на улице в любое время суток. В любом случае моя оценка 10 из 10, потому что все перечисленные плюсы с лихвой компенсируют несущественные недостатки. Спасибо!

We had a wonderful stay at Catherine’s cottage. Location was good; walkable to the beach. It is hard to fully explain just how spacious the cottage is - every room is large and well thought out, even the outside veranda is enormous. The children loved the little pool, it was absolutely perfect to end our Sri Lankan adventure. Thank you.

Loved the villa! Right on the beach. Spacious. Loved the simple, elegant interiors, and the muted lighting. We all had a great time in the pool by the beach. The speaker is awesome. Jaan was always prompt in responding. And they proactively informed us that we could check out late as they had no booking on that day - thank you Jaan. The local caretaker Gayan, who lives nearby, comes every day to clean the pool and was helpful. He also drives a tuktuk himself. He came to check on us a few times despite his son being unwell - thank you Gayan. There is a supermarket at a walking distance and a restaurant (called A2). The main town, restaurants, touristy shops are less than 3 kms away and tuktuks are very easily available for hire (the pickme app worked like a charm). We stayed during the off season, so it is quite likely that during the peak season, there are beachfront restaurants and bars operational at a walking distance from the villa.

We loved our stay! The garden and pool were terrific, the staff was very nice and the Place was super clean!

Wir (drei Erwachsene) haben 6 Nächte im Strandhaus in Matara verbracht und waren begeistert. Nach Stationen in Kandy, Hatton und Ella war diese Unterkunft das Highlight unserer Reise. Mitten in der Natur gelegen, bietet sie einen traumhaften tropischen Garten, eine private Atmosphäre, eine Terrasse und einen kleinen Pool mit Meerblick. Am Ende des Gartens: eine Schaukel mit Zugang zum Meer – dort konnten wir sogar beobachten, wie Baby-Schildkröten ins Wasser gelassen wurden! Der Gastgeber war sehr freundlich, hilfsbereit und immer erreichbar. Gute Cafés, Restaurants und traumhafte Strände mit Schildkröten sind in der Nähe. Absolute Empfehlung – wir haben unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen!

Good place for family holidays. They have a chef who will plate some amazing food.

We had a lovely stay at the villa. While located on a busy street, the villa is quite peaceful with wonderful views of the ocean. Out front there are shops and restaurants easily accessible by foot or tuk tuk, which was quite convenient. Outback there is a lovely beach, though it was severely eroded at our time of visit (due to the monsoon season). Irrespective, we enjoyed being able to stroll and explore and visit the turtle hatchery directly next door. The villa itself is well appointed with much of what one would need. The pool was lovely and the bedrooms, enormous bathrooms, and AC made for a comfortable stay. All that said, the thing that made the villa was the lovely staff. They made us feel welcome, offered wonderful suggestions and arranged some excursions for us, and really elevated our stay.

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful villa, located right on the serene and picturesque Talpe Beach. The calm, crystal-clear waters were perfect for calm bathing, and we were lucky enough to spot massive turtles every morning! We loved the option of cooking for ourselves, and the fully equipped kitchen made it easy to prepare meals. The vibrant markets in Galle, just a 15-minute drive away, offered an incredible variety of fresh seafood, fruits, and vegetables, which was a real treat. If you prefer, Anjalee, the lovely housekeeper, is also available to cook you breakfast. The villa was impeccably clean, and the communication with Jack was seamless and clear from start to finish. It was the perfect place to unwind, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

Wir haben dort wundervolle 2 Wochen verbracht. Das Haus ist mit seiner Lage, direkt am Strand, und seiner Ausstattung ein Glücksgriff. Die Einwohner in der Nachbarschaft waren alle sehr freundlich. Der Ort ist noch kein Touristenhotspot, was wir sehr genossen haben. In Ambalanghoda ist eine Zugstation, man kommt also auch einfach in andere Städte. Ansonsten fahren überall die üblichen Tuk Tuks. Jay der Housekeeper hat uns alle Wünsche erfüllt und was sehr zuvorkommend. Er hat ein paar Mal für einen Aufpreis für uns gekocht, sehr lecker!

I stayed for two weeks at this beachfront villa in Ambalangoda, and it was an incredible experience. The villa is spacious, with large rooms and plenty of space to relax. Having a parking area was a huge advantage, especially for my rented motorcycle. Denuka, the host, was extremely helpful and responsive. He quickly addressed my requests via WP and ensured a smooth stay. Another highlight was Denuka’s uncle, who spends most of the day near the swing in the front yard. He is incredibly kind and always ready to help whenever needed. Exploring the surroundings by motorcycle was a fantastic experience—I highly recommend it. Overall, this villa is a great choice for anyone looking for a comfortable and scenic getaway. I would definitely stay here again!

We really loved our stay at Nalinda’s place. But if you are looking for a fancy, high-end place according to European or US standards, do not choose this one because you will be disappointed. If you are looking for an authentic and charming place with lively people who are super friendly and helpful, take a chance, because it is actually a great deal (never forget how much you are paying !). Nalinda is the best Airbnb host I have ever experienced: super communicative and great at giving tips and arranging transport. Sachin, the person responsible for the house and the tuc tuc, is great. He is the one driving you around and yes, he might be a bit more expensive than the guys you can stop on the street but then it is also super convenient to have a personal driver at all times. The garden and the pool are a definite bonus and there is a beautiful beach on the other side of the road (don’t get discouraged by the wrecked houses that you have to pass). This is authentic Sri Lankan living 💕

Największym atutem tego miejsca jest lokalizacja oraz gospodarz, który jest bardzo pomocny. Jeżeli nie chcecie turystów na każdym kroku a raczej poznać lokalnych mieszkańców to idealne miejsce. Blisko targ z rybami a w soboty duży targ warzyw i owoców, parę minut tuk tuk w stronę Galle. Budynek składa się z mieszkania na dole oraz na piętrze. Piętro to 3 sypialnie w tym dwie z widokiem na ocean oraz kuchnia ze stołem. Na dole jest podobnie. Duża grupa osób ma budynek dla siebie. Teren wokół domu jest zadbany. Rano słychać przypływających rybaków, ale jest to element uroku tego miejsca. Woda przy posesji jest bezpieczna z uwagi na małą zatokę, po prawej stronie sporo płycizny, miejsce dobre do nauki pływania na desce. Jeżeli szukacie idealnej ciszy to tu jej nie znajdziecie jeżeli chcecie poznać prawdę o tym miejscu Sri Lanki to dobrze traficie. My zakochaliśmy się w tym miejscu pełnym dźwięków i życia wśród lokalnej społeczności.

Me and my wife like this place so much! The location is the best for house on the beach! The view is amazing, the rooms are clear and comfortable. Hot water and AC in every bedroom. Big living room and comfortable kitchen. Two minutes with Tuk tuk from the city center. And we appreciate the hospitality and help of our host Shashi, who was available at all times! We had the most wonderful stay at Seagem in Mirissa! The house was perfect, everything in the kitchen was well-organized, and the porch area was such a cozy spot to sit, read, and unwind. The garden added a lovely homely touch, making the entire experience feel so peaceful and relaxing. What truly made our stay unforgettable was the amazing hospitality by the lovely family hosting us. They went above and beyond to make us feel at home, served us delicious dinners on two nights (truly some of the best we had!), and their two adorable dogs were the sweetest little guardians, friendly and comforting to have around. The hosts were incredibly kind and helpful, guiding us with local recommendations like the secret beach, a scenic hilltop view near the harbor, and even a nearby spa. Their warmth and genuine care made this trip extra special, we’ve honestly never experienced such loving & thoughtful hosts before. To top it all off, the location is perfect, just a short 5-min walk to beach.
