Humbug barn is nestled in a tranquil valley in the Forest of Dean and offers modern luxury accommodation for up to 6 guests. Boasting beautiful forest views we are in easy reach of all that the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley have to offer, hiking, biking, kayaking, zip lining , castles and much more - however if all that sounds too exhausting take one of the many scenic walks from your front door or relax in the hot tub and unwind. The Hosts have not received any money from central government for this project. Instead they rely on the generosity of individuals such as yourself who are paying guests. When you stay, a percentage of money paid subsidises future carers staying to experience a well deserved peaceful retreat.

In the Forest of Dean, the Old Chapel is situated next to woodland with wonderful walks right on the doorstep. The chapel has been sympathetically restored and retains many original features, character and charm. An abundance of pine cladding on walls and ceilings give a wonderful feeling of warmth and relaxation. The floors are original pine. Candles in the evening and a beast of a woodburner makes this an incredibly relaxing place to be. Something a little bit different.

We had such a wonderful stay at Jack and Marks house. The location is amazing, with the Forest of Dean on your doorstep, straight into the forest for walks and a lovely pub (The Rising Sun) walk through the forest. The house is beautifully decorated, friendly and super clean with everything you would need for a stay. The beds are extremely comfortable and luxurious. The dogs absolutely loved running around the securely enclosed large garden.

We had an exceptional stay. The place lived up to all expectations and then some. Florence and her family were warm, welcoming, and full of great recommendations (among others the restaurant "Post"). Check-in and check-out were incredibly flexible, which made everything feel relaxed from the moment we arrived! A lovely surprise awaited us when we walked in. There was fresh bread, eggs, butter, jam, and even local cider. Such a thoughtful and generous touch that really made us feel at home! The surroundings were absolutely stunning. Even though the hosts live behind the Airbnb and there's another rental next door, it felt so private and peaceful, yet with a comforting sense of community. We especially loved cozying up by the fireplace in the evenings. A PRACTIAL TIP: the road to the house has quite a few potholes, so it’s best to come in a car that’s not too low to the ground. All in all, it was a magical getaway. We’d come back in a heartbeat!
