Holiday houses in Cabeza del Caballo

One of the most beautiful places I've ever been to. Follow Mario's advice and you will have an amazing time (ask if you can use the kayak!) Mario's son learned me a lot about music, and Mario himself made some fantastic breakfast, lunch and dinner. Thanks for everything, and hopefully we will meet again.

Wat een geweldig verblijf hadden wij bij Maria! Ze ontving ons letterlijk met open armen met een heerlijke lunch op haar balkon met een prachtig uitzicht over de tuin en de mooie groene heuvels. Op hetzelfde balkon genoten we elke ochtend van een uitgebreid en liefdevol klaargemaakt ontbijt. De plek is echt geweldig en vooral de tuin, die als een paradijs is, vol met vruchtenbomen, olijven, druiven, groenten, kruiden en andere planten en bloemen. Overal zijn fijne zitjes om van de heerlijke tuin met het prachtige uitzicht te genieten. En dan Maria, een zeldzaam lieve, hartelijke en zorgzame vrouw. Alles wat ze doet, voelt oprecht en recht uit het hart. Ze was bijna als een moeder voor ons en als een oma voor ons dochtertje. Het viel niet mee om na 6 dagen afscheid te nemen, maar we nemen de fijnste herinneringen met ons mee. Heel veel dank lieve Maria!

Jose’s place, (Pedro is the Son of), has a lovely home in a quiet friendly village. The home was relatively easy to find, (could do with an Airbnb sign on the corner of the property, to help weary travellers). Once arrived and settled in, Jose is a BRILLIANT host, so welcoming, so generous and the home is comfortable and quiet. We enjoyed a meal in a neighbouring town, that Jose, happily booked for us, but there is all the available gear to cook for yourself. The area is close to the Duoro river, and Jose gives so many options for activities for this area. He is very passionate about the history and his town. We would recommend this home to anyone who is in the area.

Muy bien todo en todos los aspectos

Casa muy bonita y acogedora. Nuno muy agradable nos atendió personalmente. Es una casa para quedarse más días ,ir con la familia o amigos ya que la casa es grande con muchas habitaciones. Mi esposo y yo sólo nos quedamos una noche. Hay facilidades para hacer barbacoa en el exterior y disfrutar del patio. La casa está en una zona rural, no está en la ciudad.

Henrique es un anfitrión excepcional! El mejor alojamiento en el que he estado nunca. Muy amable y atento! Volveré seguro!

We had a fantastic weekend at Estrela Serenity Resort. What I loved the most was the vast property and the stunning view of the villages below. The sauna, heated pool, and the restaurant with delicious local wine were also highlights. The room was excellent — the bed was very comfortable, and the linens were fresh and clean. There’s direct access to a hiking trail right from the hotel grounds — a great discovery for anyone who enjoys active vacations and trekking. The team was responsive to all our requests, and everything we needed was handled quickly. The hotel is dog-friendly. We stayed with our dog and were provided with bowls and a dog bed. Our pup enjoyed exploring the grounds and discovering different spots. As for the downsides — the mini-fridge in the room didn’t work very well, but it was such a minor issue compared to everything else that we didn’t even mention it. We will definitely be back at this place!

We felt so lucky to have spent a few days there. Amazing to stay in such a mid century gem, designed by the owner’s architect father. It is quite basic in terms of amenities which adds to its authenticity although cooking is a bit challenging. But the pool is very luxurious. And the home made cheese and daily fresh bread were wonderful. Irene is a kind and friendly host. We could not locate the place but she drove to meet us and lead us there. When a fuse blew one evening (it was extremely hot) she came and fixed it immediately. She could not have been more gracious, we really enjoyed talking with her and hearing about the history of her family and the house. As others have mentioned, the nearest supermarket is about 45 minutes away so be sure to shop on your way. There are two very small refrigerators so bear that in mind when shopping. A truly memorable, special place.
