Welcome to our home: where we have found peace and relaxation for over 20 years. A German native, Big R fell in love with the open land and rolling hills of Wisconsin, becoming a US citizen in the 80s. He met Curly, a Chicago city girl, who brought a little city to his country life. They enjoy raising buffalo and spending warmer days on their porch enjoying the fresh air and beautiful views (with no mosquitos!). Now they want to share their idyllic and peaceful home with you. Drive down a dead-end road and pull up to a rustic cabin filled with high-tech and cozy amenities. We have something for everyone with a gas fireplace, tv (complete with dish, Cinemax, HBO and a Bluetooth sound system), board games and a full kitchen. Take a drink outside to soak in the hot tub or sit around the campfire. When the day is done, you will fall asleep instantly on the memory foam bed, either in the loft or the bedroom, and wake up to a beautiful sunrise looking out over your little getaway.

This Earthen house is made of sand, straw and clay. Nestled in a valley it is a peaceful and unique getaway. The cabin has four comfortable single beds and electricity, a wood stove for winter. Outside a fire pit and grill. A hand washing sink inside; and port-o-let toilet outside. You may be able to drive in (weather/road condition depending). The home was perfect for travelers out of the area. Jennifer and Steve were helpful and responsive. Thinking of extras that made it easy to stay in this lovely clean home. Very quiet and peaceful setting with a local grocery store if you need a few items. We will definitely make this our go to home when traveling to WI.

This Airbnb was beautiful, peaceful and centrally located to many things to see. It is, however, what I would call remote. It takes a few extra minutes to get to restaurants, grocery store, etc. But…we were there to see the area and enjoyed our drives to and from our destinations…..Baraboo for the Circus Museum, Madison for the (free) botanical garden (GORGEOUS) and Saturday Farmers Market/Wisconsin Capitol building, among other jaunts. The space was large, clean and just right for us. A basket snacks awaited us when we arrived, as well as a lovely bouquet of flowers for their huge yard. Enjoyed our stay very much!

For me this place has been great. The host went above and beyond. While it isn’t surrounded by activities, everything is within a mile so mostly walkable. But since it’s winter I mostly drive. Parking insights great. The home is charming and I’ll be staying longer because I enjoyed it so much.

This is my third time at the tiny home cabins but my first time at the opal lodge and it was, as always, extremely beautiful and peaceful! We will be planning in making this a reoccurring trip as we absolutely can’t get enough of it. They have a map for all the trails and a beautiful pond to relax by. They have everything you need for a successful fire! Absolutely love this place!
