Kid-friendly holiday rentals in Charles County

Less than .5 miles from sand . The kids loved staying at the house versus a hotel ! Was the perfect spot to relax and go on the deck to hear the water . Would definitely go back for another vacation.

I could make this really long but I’ll keep it short and sweet! I needed an impromptu retreat near salt air and big water and this little cottage was the perfect cozy get away. Enough space for entertaining a few people but also small enough to not feel overwhelmed by space when I was alone. Loved the quiet neighborhood. Didn’t feel like anything was missing. So grateful for that moment of peace and quiet in a very comfortable environment.

An incredible peace of property! This house has been beautifully renovated and exceeded every expectation. Unbelievable waterfront views from nearly every room in the house, back porch and fire pit. Also a very nice surprise of having a little play area stocked with toys for the little ones! This is a must stay if we’re ever back in the area!

We loved our stay! The house was cleaner than any hotel we’ve used. There was plenty of room for our family of 6, and I got the best sleep in ages thanks to the super comfortable bed and soft linens. We were impressed by how thoughtfully the house was stocked with anything we could need: great selection of games in the dining room, laundry supplies including stain remover, kid-friendly dishes, etc. We appreciated the clear instructions posted by appliances. The neighborhood was peaceful and safe, and we felt comfortable letting our teens walk down to the beach each evening to watch the gorgeous sunset. We enjoyed the nearby towns, with great experiences at El Toro, Colonial Buzz Espresso Bar, Muse Pizzeria, Westmoreland State Park, and the Westmoreland County Museum. The location even made for easy day trips to Washington DC and the Pax River Naval Air Museum. Thanks again, Dani, for making our first ever family vacation such a great experience!!

I want to gate-keep this house so much!! If you are looking for a great house to hangout relax on the dock with a glass of wine eating crab chips then this is the place for you! We didn’t want to leave. Her home is beautiful, extremely clean, comfortable and the perfect spot for basically any size group. We kayaked, we road bikes, we made s’mores, we fished, we ate crabs at Capt John’s it was the perfect Cobb island adventure. Can’t wait to come back!

This house and the amenities are amazing. It was perfect for our family reunion with 5 couples. Enough room for everyone to have space. My favorite part was gathering around the round dinner table with the 10 of us. We also took the kayaks out and up Mattox creek for a wonderful morning of a peaceful paddle. The Lodge was perfect for my husband and I to step away from the group and have some privacy. I highly recommend!!

Kim was such a great host, our family very much enjoyed our stay at her villa. Quiet neighborhood yet walking distance from all downtown Colonial Beach has to offer. The villa was well appointed and had a wonderful outside patio with views of the river. We will definitely be back!

This house was amazing from start to finish. Ample room to spread out or be close together. Our favorite part of the house was the back yard. We spent alot of our time out side in the back yard. Short drive to restaurants and the beach. Would love to stay again maybe next year.

We had an amazing stay at Theo’s place! Everything was perfect clean, comfortable, and exactly as described. The thoughtful touches and great communication made our trip so enjoyable. We’d absolutely love to return! Highly recommend!

Bringing in my 50th birthday with time alone was absolutely perfect here. I will definitely be returning!

Brittany’s waterfront home in Colonial Beach was a beautiful and peaceful retreat for me, my husband, and our 2 year old son. The space is beautiful and clean and offers lovely views of the sparkling water and beach just steps from the front door. We loved having beach days and visiting the pool, and nearby restaurants made it easy to grab lunch and dinner after a busy day in the sun. The in-unit washer and dryer made it easy to clean our swimsuits and stay on top of laundry, and the fully stocked kitchen made cooking a breeze. The porch also provides a nice space to take in the views and the sounds of waves crashing in a private and peaceful retreat. We loved visiting Colonial Beach and would happily stay at Brittany’s home again!

We had a wonderful stay at Lucas’s place over Memorial Day weekend! The apartment was clean, well-equipped, and included convenient amenities like a washer/dryer and working appliances. Having a dedicated parking space was a huge plus, and the location was perfect—just a short walk to great restaurants and shops. Lucas was friendly, responsive, and made the check-in process easy. Highly recommend!

To be honest all the reviews about it being to loud isn’t tru it was quiet to me and clean I was comfortable there it’s was lots of space for my kiddo to run around in as well Ernest and his wife are very kind people would stay there agin I have nothing bad to say at all oh and the neighborhood is super quiet love that to

We will definitely be back is the best endorsement. Quiet basement space that is in a safe and accessible neighborhood- one bed, living room, kitchen with induction stove, bathroom and cute dining area. Private entrance through the side gate with flood lights making late check in safe and easy. The owner is extremely responsive and lives upstairs but you barely hear anything. It had everything we needed and more. Internet connection was not lightening fast but you can still get online.

This place was very nice to stay at and was perfect for what I needed for a short stay.

This place worked wonders for our family vacation. the place is very new and updated with 2 full bathrooms that were clean and spacious for beach time and baths with kids. colonial beach is a hidden gem in a historic little town that seems as though at one point was hustling and bustling but isn't quite as popular as it once was but trying to come back. if your a family looking for a uncrowded beach and some activities to do in the area then this place is great! we actually read about this place being in the heart of historic downtown. only thing we would have loved to see with this place is some outdoor patio spot at the home directly to be able to sit outside together. the location does not really have any night life during the week, not even on 4th of July. we went out at 9 pm and the bar closed at 10 pm which seemed way too early for a Thursday and holiday and being on the beach.

The Daisy was cozy and comfortable and very well located. The Secret Garden Restaurant is right next door. The unit is roomy with a very nice kitchen. It is on the first floor so was helpful for me with a bad knee not to have to climb stairs. It is in an old building so you do hear footsteps when someone is in the unit upstairs. It was perfect for me as I was visiting a brother with an apartment too small for guests and his favorite restaurant is the Secret Garden.

After a little miscommunication on the arrival time, everything was at it should be or better. Great location, clean, responsive well worth it. Great experience and will be back regularly.

Brandon’s home was as beautiful as the pictures. We loved how easy it was to walk to everything in the town. The pool and rooftop patio were an added bonus. We enjoyed cooking in the large kitchen, and the house easily accommodated our group of 8. We will be back!

Had an amazing beachfront experience! I was taken aback by the breathtaking views from the balcony. Our host was attentive and made sure everything was in order for our arrival.
