If you're looking to enjoy nature and disconnect, this is the place! So close to the Breaks interstate Park (5 minutes?), which is filled with great hiking. And the cabin is perfect for family fun - ping pong tournaments and Ms. PacMan! - plus a hot tub for post hike relaxing. This part of VA is very remote so there are not a ton of restaurants nearby so come prepared! That said, the kitchen is stocked with everything you could need!

If you decide to explore Breaks Interstate Park and the Crooked Road, consider staying at this newly renovated apartment in Virginia. The ground-level accommodations (very comfortable) feature a spacious bedroom with two queen-size beds, a kitchenette with seating area, and a bathroom with shower and washer-dryer. The location, which overlooks a river and rolling hills, is only 8 miles from Virginia’s “Grand Canyon.” The Crooked Road leads visitors to attractions including the Ralph Stanley Museum, the Carter Family Fold, and the Birthplace of Country Music Museum. Our host was welcoming and eager to meet our needs. The town of Haysi, Virginia, offers a small grocery store, restaurants, shops, and a gas station. We would certainly consider staying there again.

We loved the Flanagan Lodge! I traveled with family including 3 children ages 9-5. No one really wanted to leave. It’s very well appointed. Lots of updated things very high tech. He’s really thought of everything to make this a nice space! We all loved the deck it was a great place to sit unplugged and just enjoy peaceful nature. The beds were super comfy nothing felt cheap very nice linens and towels! This place is close to town where there’s restaurants and shopping. It’s a lovely location easy to find with GPS! Joseph was a wonderful host. I can’t say enough good things about Joseph and this hidden gem I’d give 10 stars if I could! We will definitely be back.

Wow! What a beautiful area! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit! We are outdoor enthusiast, so we had so much to do! The cycling on hillbilly trails was both fun and thrilling. Riding the curvy roads through the national forest and Breaks was amazing! Rock climbing was easy to access and there were great routes. It was really cool to see orange salamanders on our hike! Finally, the people here, were friendly and welcoming! Our accommodations the Alma Potter house was inviting and Homie. We will be back!

Nice clean spacious house located right near breaks interstate park in downtown Elkhorn city. Would stay again!

Wonderful hosts, very close to elk viewing all around. Lovely scenery. Of note if you are traveling with small children, there are no doors to any of the bedrooms (curtains only) which makes for a bit of a noise issue. Otherwise the place was a cute cabin in the woods and would recommend.

10/10! Highly recommend to other guests. The space was spotless and well taken care of. Beds and furniture were very comfy. Well stocked with what you would need for your trip. Located in a beautiful, quiet and peaceful area. Sherry was one of the best hosts we have had yet and we have stayed in many air bnbs! Her hospitality is a 100/10. She is very accommodating, we even had car issues and she was quick to assists us in any way she could to help us out. I would absolutely book again when coming back to the area.

We had a great stay in this recently renovated second story apartment in a historic building. The kitchen is well-supplied for cooking, the furniture and beds are very comfortable, and the design is modern. Parking is easy, and while it’s located on Main Street, there isn’t much noise as Elkhorn City is a quiet town, which provides easy access to the spectacular Breaks interstate park. Angie is a great host; she lives nearby, and knows everyone and everything about the area. She made a point of finding us, but was very respectful of our privacy, and is fun to meet.
