Just spent 6 nights at Nicola and Nick’s restored colonial house in Dodanduwa near Hikkaduwa. Lovely historic, rustic old house with large rooms, high ceilings, a classic veranda with a nice pool in the large garden. The local village was great to explore. Having an 10 month old grandchild in tow mean plenty of engagement with the locals. The house comes with a menagerie of visiting cats and dogs who treat the house as home – especially Kitty. Took a while for our granddaughter to get accustomed to these visitors. Overall we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves staying in the house and the local area. In addition, Nicola was very responsive to queries. Likewise, the staff on site were great as well – particularly Nicky who cooked several meals for us and was a mind of information about her home town of Hikkaduwa.

Beautiful house, well maintained. Everything worked and kitchen well kitted out. The caretaker of the house was very attentive and could be paid to take you out on a boat ride around the lake or pop to the shops in his tuk tuk. You can organise to have a meal cooked for you this is a nice experience. We had a peaceful two nights in the lake house.

This incredible property, which is absolutely as described and photographed, delighted us every day! Nishantha and his family are incredibly attentive and helpful, we are very excited to meet them, thank you for your hospitality. We had at our disposal a beautiful house with a private and well-maintained territory, a swimming pool overlooking the lake. A separate area for BBQ, in the evening beautiful lighting turns on, in the form of light bulbs, there was a feeling of some kind of holiday. The fauna in Sri Lanka, in general is very rich, and in this villa we saw lizards, a peacock came to visit, many chipmunks and beautiful birds. I am absolutely sure that by choosing this place - you will not regret anything.

Everything was 100 percent as hoped. The location in the “hinterland” perfect, a small vegetable shop around the corner and a restaurant right on the lake 10min walk. And then the beautiful garden!! We got fresh coconuts and delicious papaya. The old house was well restored. The relationship with the landlord was optimal and when we had a problem with the visa, we were easily helped. If you are looking for a stay away from the tourism hustle and bustle, you have found a wonderful opportunity here.

Fantastic and quiet accommodation right on the beach. Ravith and all the others belonging to the property was very accommodating. You don't have to accept everything you're turned on and the prices sometimes deviate from the available menu, only around 100-200 LKR, anyway. Highly recommended!

Priyankara is a wonderful and kind host, his property is even better than the pictures, he was around to walk us through the space and gave local recommendations., We only stayed for a couple of days, but felt right at home, It's very charmingly decorated as well. Me and my wife like this place so much! The location is the best for house on the beach! The view is amazing, the rooms are clear and comfortable. Hot water and AC in every bedroom. Big living room and comfortable kitchen. Two minutes with Tuk tuk from the city center. And we appreciate the hospitality and help of our host Shashi, who was available at all times! Thank you and we meet again soon!

Luxury Lake Villa with Pool near beach & Hikkaduwa

We booked Soul Villa for three days and had the most incredible experience that we have rebooked it to return for two weeks in the future. The house by the Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa is not only beautifully designed, but also in an incredible location overlooking a lake. The calm and tranquility one finds here is really unique, we were happy to pass the days at the house by the beautiful pool. The house keeper and his wife were utterly charming and we were lucky to taste their home cooking which guests can do upon request. Such delicious food! We also managed to squeeze in a one hour full body massage at Shalomi Ayurveda in Hikkaduwa which was out of this world and close to the beach. Next to the house is a fabulous tuktuk driver called Ranil, so life couldn’t be mad more easy . We cannot fault our stay. It was beyond expectation and we are looking forward to returning.
