Kyoko was a very gracious city host, she communicated well before our gatherings, I had to change my plan with her because of family visits but overall my experience with her was pleasant.

Kyoko was very friendly and spoke very good English. She was able to explain all aspects of the days that we would spend with her. The first day we met ,we had lunch and got to know each other. Very relaxing to get aquainted. The second day we visited the factory and saw how the cloth was printed with ink. It was absolutely fascinating to see how things were done years ago and are still being used today I loved it ! It was very unique to see the printing methods and how they dried the cloth. The third day we learned about using the cloth to wrap things-gifts,wine bottles etc. it was great! I loved the whole package and recommend it to anyone that wants to have a unique look into the past and future of cloth making industry. Kyoko did a great job with her planning and explaining things to us. I'm telling everyone about what a wonderful experience I had with Kyoko and being in Tokyo .

Department Store & Lunch: This was unique! The store itself is very modern and clean. Lunch was delicious. The location of the store is also great. My Mom and I found a cute designer consignment shop with some real treasures. Printing Shop: We had some trouble getting there, but that was our fault. We got on a connecting train which took us quite a ways out of the way, but Kyoko was there waiting for us! The printing factory is super authentic. You'd never be invited there without her. It was pretty amazing to see how "by-hand" they were performing their craft. The shop keeper is very modest and I felt lucky to be there. Wrapping instruction & Lunch: Kyoko's home is so "her". Very stylish and minimalist. It was fun to sit and have a bento box with her, chatting about life and hosting. We learned how to do 4-5 different wraps. Since being home, I have already given a few gifts with the wraps! She gave us a take home strap (from her website) to make our own bags - a great take-away gift! Kyoko is a genuine person, I really enjoyed our time together.

More tips

Furoshiki is a super-functional piece of fabric. Wrap up clothes and put it in a suitcase, use as scarf to protect against wind - you can even wrap up wine bottles to bring them to a party.
