What you'll do
You will arrive at Berkhamsted station (30 minutes from Euston London) where we will pick you up. (10 minute drive to the stables- you can of course drive straight to the stables in Little Gaddesden if you would rather come by car). On arrival at the stables you will be given hard hats and back protectors and will meet the horses. We will have already determined your ability levels so the horses will have been hand picked. Once you get to know your horse you will get on board and spend half an hour in the school getting a feel for your horse and brushing up on the basics. We will then hack out through our private woodland and straight into the stunning Ashridge Estate. The 5000 acre estate is a truly beautiful wooded landscape and is home to large herds of deer and wildlife. We will ride along bridle paths around King Henry 8th's and Elizabeth 1st's hunting lodge. The pace of this 2 hour trail ride will be determined by the experience levels of the riders. After the ride you will be taken back to the station or nearby Berkhamsted station where you can look around the lovely market town or get a train home
I am the founder of Ashridge Horse Trekking. I have a beautiful collection of safe Irish Cob riding horses and taking them out around King Henry 8th's hunting estate 'The Ashridge Estate now owned by the National Trust' is the best way to experience horse riding fit for Kings and Queens. I am also an expert guide around the stunning 'Ashridge Estate' as I used to be the riding Warden of the Ashridge estate for over 25 years so I know the trail rides and bridle paths better than anyone. I have also owned horses for over 40 years and know all I need to know to ensure they are healthy, happy and safe for beginners through to experienced riders.

Where you'll be
Ancient trees, rolling chalk downlands and lush meadows in an area of outstanding natural beauty make this the most amazing place to ride horses. With over 30 miles of public and permissive bridleways, there are plenty of places to explore on a ride. We will ride along an old roman road , past Ashridge House, across Berkhamsted Common and through Frithsden. The countryside estate criss-crosses the border between Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire.
