What we’ll do

We’ll start the day at the steps of the National Portrait Gallery in Westminster, London then head inside to take in some of the portraits on display, where we'll consider the works on show and discuss elements such as lighting, composition, storytelling, mood, purpose, angles, primary and secondary subjects and exposure values. With our heads full of creative inspiration, we will then take a…

What else you should know

The walk from the Gallery to the bar is about 25 minutes, which I recommend, however, if you prefer, the Picadilly line between Leicester Square and Russell Square will deal with most of the distance for you. If you are running late, just let me know and you can catch us up.

What I’ll provide

Snacks
We will have a specially reserved area at the Curzon Cinema Bar, where you can order from a fantastic snacks and drinks menu to refuel you for the afternoon session.
Entrance fee
The cost of your visit to the National Portrait Gallery is included in the workshop ticket price.

What to bring

A DSLR camera and lens/es. If you have a flash unit, then do bring it along, otherwise, just your camera & lens/es.

Where you'll be

We’ll start the day at the National Portrait Gallery, where we will consider and discuss the works on show. We will then take a stroll through Central London to our next location, whilst considering, discussing and practicing the art of street photography. Lastly, we'll arrive at The Curzon Cinema Bar in Bloomsbury - an amazing venue with a great variety of spaces and different indoor and outdoor lighting for us to utilise during the workshop.
