This will include weighing and preparing balls of clay before you start, then the basics of the wheel - from centering your clay, pulling, shaping and working with your tools, beginning to learn the techniques of throwing bowls and cylinders. This is a fun and quick way to introduce yourself to throwing on the wheel and is suitable for complete beginners.

This is a fantastic way to enjoy and learn the age old art of the potters wheel

At the end of the session you will be able to choose 1 of your pieces which will be bisque fired for you then glazed in a colour of your choice and fired again.

Your pieces will be ready for pickup usually within 2 months of your class, but sometimes longer. Pick up will be arranged via an email or can be posted at a small charge

I became fascinated with pottery after watching the TV show the great pottery throw down in 2015, I began taking lessons at a local pottery and instantly fell in love with the pottery wheel, after 3 years I left and set up my own studio called Stupots.
I have been giving lessons for the last 3 years in my studio, the studio is a purpose built unit with 6 pottery wheels and situated in 3/4 of an acre of beautiful mature gardens.

This was my husband and my first experience at pottery. Pottery is challenging, but Stuart set us up very well with the equipment and expectations so we knew off the get go that the lesson was just about enjoying the process and not the results! Stuart is there to help at every step and to give guidance. He is a very patient and fun teacher! We look forward to our completed creations!

So much fun. Stewart was a great approachable, positive and encouraging teacher. 4 out of 5 of use were absolute beginners and they all left with lovely bowls. Highly recommended

Brilliant way to finish our weekend away. Stuart is a really nice guy who clearly knows a thing or two about pottery. His studio is really lovely and was easy to find. Value for money was excellent. We got to make plenty of whatever we would like. Stuart was there to help and guide and I was really pleased with the bowls and plates we made. We will be giving away a few as Christmas presents. Thanks Stuart for a lovely morning 😊

Great experience! Highly recommended if you want to try something new and fun. Stuart is a great host and very friendly. He is fun and makes the experience a very enjoyable one. Was definitely the highlight of our trip. Also great value as you get your own equipment to use and can get stuck in the action pretty much straight away.
