What you'll do

You will explore an ex-Clandestine Center

“Become an eyewitness to an obscure period of our history and have a unique experience with the dark side of Argentina”
You will explore the following:
Memorial plaques of the disappeared people.
Incredible murals (paintings & graffiti) on the topic. The individuals, history, and struggles they represent.
An ex-Clandestine Center, often called the Auschwitz of Argentina: You won’t be exploring the areas that are closed while archaeological techniques of restoration, conservation, and evidence-gathering work proceeds. But the most interesting things, for the most part, are easily seen from the outside.
These terrible places are important for understanding Argentina and are a visceral depiction of the wide reach of the military dictatorship in its ability to terrorize the local population.
As I am a living history, I will tell you the interesting facts you need to know to understand the worst, most brutal, and most violent dictatorship in Argentinean history. I am willing to share with you what it was like to live through that dark period in Argentina’s history.
Also, you will hear recorded testimonies and examine unique documents.
We will also talk about the military Nazi ideology

Where you'll be

A massive complex that was a Clandestine Center of Detention, Torture, and Annihilation, often called the Auschwitz of Argentina.

It was a place dedicated to the kidnapping and torture of suspected dissidents that functioned during the last military dictatorship (1976-1983).

We will also talk about a couple of the worst aspects of the dictatorship: the systematic theft of babies and the Nazi ideology that permeated the military forces.

The historic tour with Elisa, 'In the footsteps of the dictators', was really interesting, and though the rain was pouring down during all the time, Elisa adapted perfectly to the situation. Elisa willingly answered all our many question, and adviced us to do something nice afterwards, since the theme, though extremely horrifying but necessary, could make us depressed. We highly recommend the tour with Elisa, to get you knowledge about this part of Argentinas history, so it hopefully not can happen again, here or elsewhwere.

Elisa’s walk “In the Footsteps of Dictators” is very educative and tells you about the history of the dictatorship of Videla and its horrible facts of disappearing people during the military junta period. Elisa is very well informed about what happened in those years. I believe that she is the only guide that wants to inform you about this period; it is a history that one wants to forget but should never be forgotten. This trip is recommended although I advise you to prepare yourself somewhat; go to Wikipedia or another fact based website to get some information beforehand. This enables you understand the story that Elisa will tell you better.

This tour is a must-do if you’re visiting Buenos Aires. It’s a very sobering topic but an important one. Elisa is kind, personable, and extremely knowledgeable!

Informative and personal experience of a dark period of the history of Argentina. Hard to believe that repressive governments of South America with the aid of the US and France could perpetrate such inhumanity. A Free and Independent Press is the only threat to these actions.
