What you'll do
You will arrive at my property ("The Little Goat House") at the scheduled time, and I will take you back to see the goats' HQ (backyard and barn) and introduce you to the boys. I'll then get ready for our adventure with John and David, answering any questions you may have about what I bring with me to walk the goats (hint: it's not necessarily the same stuff you need to walk a dog)! The majority of our time together, after brief meet and greet, will be spent walking and hiking directly out back from my property. There is a quick walk down a double dead end street to get to an unmarked urban trailhead. We will walk through the tall native pine trees and wander up small boulders that emerge from the natural landscape. There is an incline that we will eventually summit, which will put us onto a flat, paved running trail — the "Ben Burr Trail." The Ben Burr runs halfway up the hill between the neighborhoods of East Central and the South Hill, Spokane. From the trail, you can look out to see beautiful vistas of the city and of Mount Spokane — this is an amazing spot to stop for a picture!!! For the adventurous, you can also summit some of the boulder formations along this trail — and the goats will be happy to accompany you! You will be amazed watching them follow and frolic, climb and jump, throughout the experience. We will finish out the trek on a downhill back to my place.

Hi! My name is Tanya, and I'm the Proprietor at "The Little Goat House" here in Spokane, Washington! When I began hosting stays through airbnb in 2013, I always planned to one day own a home with backyard urban goats. This past April (2019), I adopted my two resident pet Nigerian Dwarf goats! Affectionately dubbed "John Waters" and "David Lynch," I bottle raised these boys myself! The coolest thing about my experience with keeping urban goats is how much I've learned, and how resourceful I've become through the process. I am happy to share my experiences and my knowledge with you! I have recently begun teaching John and David how to walk on their hind legs and how to walk off-leash. The boys have grown more responsive, and I now take them on daily backyard adventures right here in urban Spokane.
