What you'll do

Udon making is not just about learning recipes, it is more about actually experiencing and feeling the texture of the dough with your hands and feet.

In this workshop I will teach my recipe and you get to experience all the steps of udon-making from scratch(Kneading-stepping--spreading-cutting) to make your own udon with great texture and taste! So you can make your own delicious udon at home without me.

After training in Kagawa prefecture where is famous for Sanuki udon(known for signature texture and chewiness), I have been making udon for 3 years, and making udon for more than a year while traveling all around the world to make my living. So I can share unique stories from my experience.

I am currently on the way to seek for the answer to “what kind of lifestyle and where is the place that I can feel most comfortable to spend my life”. Through my udon workshop, I hope you could get a tip of YOUR ideal lifestyle and place, and learn the meaning of one of my missions “to become part of happiness cycle”.
Other things to note
30min from Ueno station on Chiyoda line and 5min walk to the venue.
Please bring your apron if you would like to keep your shirt clean. Not a must.

28 year old Japanese culinary nomad traveling around the world while making udon to locals and making my living. As Tanimura Udon, the name of my virtual moving restaurant, I have served my udon in many ways such as by holding udon workshops at school and restaurant, one-day pop-up events collaborating with restaurants and cafes, and visiting houses. I started udon traveling from Japan, and traveled around Australia and Malaysia. More than 1000 people around the world have had my udon.

We had a fun time learning to make Udon. Jun was a welcoming host, he met us at the station to walk to the studio. It was certainly a unique part of our trip and I would recommend it to others.

Jun was friendly and chatty. He gave us a really good udon making experience and we all enjoyed hearing his stories. Would definitely recommend this experience.
