Indigo11.50 is the most famous pioneer indigo studio in this small city, co-founder Max as the first man from 7 years ago
to set the studio up and rebuild old traditional - natural indigo dyeing to a new era ever in Hong Kong's craft man history.
By combining Japanese Shibori ( tie-dye ) , life healing + slow living plus to become a new form of "Dyeing " .
We believe the only way to reborn " tradition dyeing" is not about the skill and technique , it's about "satisfaction and needs " we believe people come to us looking for the creative, cultural
content to fill up their curiosity about our art , our mindset , our sharing, our life.
Indigo 11.50 is also a professional indigo dyeing makers for different commercial clients.

This was an amazing experience. I knew nothing about indigo dyeing when I first went in and this was a great intro. Max has an amazing story and just being able to learn from him is a blessing. He also shared his wonderful tea and studio environment. Definitely a great experience if you want to get away from the craziness of downtown.

I did this experience alone and it was a fun way to spend the afternoon learning something new. The teacher demonstrated different ways to creat patterns with samples and then I got to choose the design for my own cloth. It’s nice to give back to a small business.

I had the privilege of being the solo student in Max’ Master Class, being only one of 7000+ that he’s inspired. It was an unrushed afternoon over delicious cold-brew tea marveling at his masterpieces and creating something beautiful under his tutelage. While my first ever dye was drying, we walked his lush neighborhood to the beach and said hello to his cornfield, vegetables and dogs. This is Hong Kong, you may ask? Magical!

This was my first indigo dyeing experience and it was one of my favorite memories of Lantau Island. Would definitely recommend if you'd like to spend a slow and quiet afternoon learning a new craft. Max's studio is beautiful and cosy, and just a short walk out to the beach - we really enjoyed the sea breeze and playing with Akin, Max's friendly border collie. My boyfriend and I attended this workshop together and we love that we could return to Singapore with not just memories from our trip but a physical keepsake, and a new friendship formed with Max. I even bought a kimono from the studio!
