What you'll do

We will start our day at the Temple of Apollo, and from there we will take a nice walk into Ortigia, which will lead us into the traditional and characteristic narrow alleys.
Walking down the same roads as the locals, observing the daily life as it goes by, snooping into the traditional shops and observing how things are outside of the turistic areas will make you truly feel like you belong to this place. The natural conclusion to this lovely walk is, given that we are in an island, the seafront.
Just the seafront by itself offers a lot to visit, from the local fish market to the traditional expositions.
During our walk, we’ll recharge ourselves tasting some local products, such as almond granita, almond milk, tea and lemon granita, arancini, pizzette and so on.
We’ll discover some magic places to take photos and also, place where staring at the sunset.
The tour will finish in front of a characteristic restaurant/local food shop where, if you want, you can have a delicious meal.
Other things to note
Tickets for monuments are included.
Meal is not included.

Hello there, my name's Paolo, your host for the day!
I was born in Syracuse in 1971, and for over twenty years I have been travelling all around Sicily, because I wanted to explore the traditions and cultures in an island that is as small as it is rich of sub-cultures and different ways of living.
Together we will visit all Sicily has to offer us, from the natural reserves to the pristine beaches, from the archaeological and historical sites to the architectural marvels, this experience will show you a side of the local community that is very rarely accessible to an tourist/outsider.

I have always loved this island, and if I can show you how beautiful it is, through the eyes of someone who was born here and lived with, and in, this community, then I will have done a good job!

We had a very nice afternoon with Paolo. He has planned the walk thoughtfully, as we began in the abandoned parts of Ortigia and finished at the glamourous Piazza Duomo. Paolo is very simpatico and knows so much. We loved the beautiful fotos he took from us in the warm light of sunset. We recommend highly.

Paolo was an excellent tour guide. It was like walking around a new city with an old friend. We spent over 3 hours walking around the little hidden parts of Ortigia then finished with an amazing lunch.

It was such a pleasure to spend the day with Paolo. It was a private tour and he customized the entire day for me. I was highly interested in narrow cobbled streets and the history and architecture of Ortigia. And that’s exactly what I got. After spending the day with Paolo I know more about the city, Sicily and Italy’s culture that I could have imagined. But not only was he super knowledgeable, he was also a very pleasant person. It made the experience feel less like a guided tour and more like a long walk with friends. He also shared some private stories and was able to answer all my questions. And it were plenty! I’m seeing the city now through different lenses. If you would like to experience the real Ortigia and Sicily I only highly recommend the tour with Paolo.
