What you'll do
Bunraku is praised worldwide as a very sophisticated puppet theater art. It is a highly collaborative performance art that synchronizes narrative recitation, shamisen music, and puppetry. In this experience, we’ll go to the National Theater to see Bunraku, and I will choose the best show currently playing. I will guide you around the traditional performing arts information center, and then you can watch the show with English captions. After the performance, I will take you backstage to meet a puppeteer.
- Identity verified
When I first saw traditional Japanese plays, I became fascinated by Japanese art. I left my busy career in information technology to become a promoter of traditional Japanese culture and a cultural coordinator to introduce our wonderful culture to others—including Bunraku. I’m also a certified teacher of the art of Japanese incense, to share the art of incense and help others relax.
Where you'll be
We'll meet at the National Theater near Hanzo-mon Station. From there we’ll watch and enjoy the world of Bunraku.
