What you'll do

Discover what it's like to run an 8 acre tropical fruit farm in paradise! You'll use all our senses on a walking tour of Lokoea Farms. We'll give you some history of the farm and the area, and guide your exploration of our 3 orchards to learn about the ethnobotany and horticulture of Hawai‘i's unique fruit trees and harvest some fruits in season. Get ready to marvel at our vanilla plants and smell the aroma of our vanilla beans. You'll even get to help feed our hilarious chickens, and collect their rainbow-colored eggs.

Then it's time for our picnic! We'll relax on the lawn or at the picnic table overlooking the gorgeous orchid-filled gardens while you eat your fill of farm-grown exotic tropical fruit and nuts - the freshest, most delicious, and perfectly in season delicacies. We'll teach you how to use our coconut husker to open up a coconut. Nothing store-bought can compare to the amazing flavor of coconut water and meat from a just-picked nut. You'll even use our special nutcracker to experience the rich flavor of our macadamia nuts.
Other things to note
Wear closed-toe shoes, a hat, and sunscreen. We do not have a public restroom at the farm. Starbucks or McDonalds in Haleiwa have public restrooms. You may want to bring bug spray and water bottle.

A 6th generation local, Noe grew up on the land where the farm is now, back when it was surrounded by sugarcane, and Hale‘iwa was still a sleepy little plantation town. After spending some time on the mainland, she returned to her hometown to help her family run the farm. She's learned a lot about tropical fruit and citrus in the last three years, and the struggling little business is now financially sustainable and provides her with a full-time job. Like our trees, Noe has deep roots in this special place.

Kekai is the first non-family employee at Lokoea Farms. When he's not working here, he's studying ‘Olelo Hawai‘i (Hawaiian language) and Malama ‘Aina (sustainability) at the University of Hawaii. His enthusiasm is contagious and he's a master at husking coconuts.

We love our farm, and we'd love to share it with you.

Where you'll be

Lokoea Farms is eight beautiful acres nestled in the Anahulu River Valley, at the base of impressive Mt. Ka‘ala. Just off the main highway, we are easy to find, but just far enough from the hustle and bustle of Hale‘iwa town. It's our little slice of paradise, filled with exotic trees, gorgeous orchids, and lots of peace and quiet.

The experience wasn’t great! My partner and I enjoyed learning about the different citrus / fruits grown in Hawaii (at Noe’s farm). Noe was informative and Kekai was helpful. The fruits that we sampled were tasty!

Going to a local farm and trying some fruit was on our bucket list for our trip to Oahu. This was a great, affordable experience. The farmer was passionate about their farm and had a big variety of stuff growing so we left feeling like we saw almost everything! Although we didn’t come in mango season (which was a bummer), there were still a lot of interesting fruits we got to try, some of which I never even knew existed. I also enjoyed trying raw and roasted macadamia nuts that were freshly picked and seeing how a coconut is opened. They also had cacao and coffee plants which I was certainly hoping to see during our time here. We also bought some of their honeycomb which was delicious! I would recommend this to anyone who wants to sample the fruits of Oahu and learn about what it’s like to run a family farm here. We learned a lot!

That was an excellent tour of the very interesting and highly functional farm/homestead. Great information, plenty of specimens. Host very knowledgeable. Small group so quite personal attention. Fully enjoyed this experience.

We had a great time visiting the farm and learning about the different plants and trees. Noe was very nice and my kids 3, 3 & 7 stayed interested which was awesome! The picnic at the end was really great as well. :)

Absolutely loved the tour of Noe's farm and the delicious fruit at the end! I had never seen many of these plants and their flowers - a truly wonderful experience on the North Shore.
