What you'll do

What sounds better to you this season: lounging on a couch watching TV or frolicking in nature, being guided by the light of the moon and your headlamp? Hiking is not just a daytime activity, in fact – some say that hiking at night is actually way more fun and also way less busy than during the day. Why not add to the experience by enjoying the city view below while sipping artisan hot cocoa or apple cider?

Dog Mountain Trail is a short, easy snowshoe that offers a spectacular view of Vancouver on a clear day or during a weather inversion. While the trail has minimal elevation gain and is only about 5 km return, it should be noted that the path is a bit more technical, requiring careful steps along several snow-covered sections.

There are well-marked, BC Parks trails that are easy to follow with a headlamp. So join me for an adventure!
Other things to note
Bring a camera for the stunning city lights at night as the view boasts definitely an instagram-worthy pictures.

I originally had the day time trip booked but due to rain we didn’t get to do our hike. Fortunately, I got rescheduled in for a night time hike. I must say it was a great experience. You get the both of best trips in the night time hike simply because 1/2 the trip was still daylight and the last 1/2 was dark time. One of the highlights was when we took a break and had some delicious hot chocolate made by Ryan. Other highlight was “snow shoe tobogganing.” Ryan is a nice lady and I would totally recommends the night time snow shoe hike 👍🏽
