What you'll do
For beginning or experienced knitters--we can start with the basics of casting on and the knit stitch or try more advanced techniques such as traditional lace patterns. Feel free to come with a pattern or project in mind.
I will introduce you to the sheep who graze freely in the orchard and there will be treats provided to hand feed them. In case of inclement weather, we may need to move into the barn. Be aware that farm environments can have mud and muck. Appropriate footwear and weather aware clothing is recommended!
Other things to note
We're happy to arrange pick up from the ferry terminal if you're visiting the island by foot or bicycle.

- Identity verified
From a childhood on a Pennsylvania sheep farm, I went to art school where I fell in love with fine craft. When I married and moved to a small island west coast island, I spent long quiet winters knitting and spinning and working with local sheep farmers. Since moving to Mayne more than ten years ago, I've been raising my own island sheep, working as a sample knitter for yarn companies, teaching and encouraging others of all ages to explore local fibers and the art of knitting and spinning yarns.
Where you'll be
In a heritage Mayne Island Orchard where the sheep graze, we'll sit in Adirondack chairs with our yarn, knitting needles and maybe a pot of tea and some apples for the sheep.
