Where you'll be

Kuromon Ichiba, also known as Kuromon Market, where a history of food culture has been the focus for nearly 200 years. Unlike other covered shopping arcades, Kuromon's retro style really transports you back to an era past and many of the friendly vendors here are masters of their craft. This is a can't miss spot in Osaka, famous for being the kitchen of the nation.

The current conditions (covid19) didn't allow a regular experience at the market but it was a nice chance to take my time & focus on the explanations & flavors. Barun is passionate about the topic. I got some aha moments.

Barun leads a great tour! The food is excellent and seems to be equal parts unique to the area and something I wouldn’t try in my own. The market is clean but bustling- my husband and I had Barun all to ourselves and I could see how a larger group might not have as much fun fighting to hear everything. For newcomers to Osaka- this tour is a must!

Great experience! Barun knew the history of the market and had relationships with some of the food vendors. The food we tried was delicious and I really enjoyed the fact that Barun had vetted the vendors, so you’re not having to guess on the food quality. Really nice experience/tour, highly recommended!

Barun provided a great tour of the market in Osaka. I would highly recommend this tour when you first get to Osaka or are just starting out on your trip to Japan. It was also a great way to try some more local Osakan dishes that we hadn't tried yet on our trip.

This market is filled with things to see and taste. Barun did a great job guiding me through the market and explaining some of the history. He was very well versed and knowledgeable, both about the market and the food. We enjoyed a shashimi tuna; Scallops cooked in the shell on an open grill; rice balls; fried puffer fish; wasabi cheese; and double fried potato cakes. There were so many thing to watch: preparations for all types of taste treat; and watching the venders clean sea urchins. I would recommend this tour for both the cultural experience and the food. Thanks Barun!!
