What you'll do
In this workshop, you'll make a copper or brass ring. Learn the basics of texturing metal, forming metal with mandrels and hammers, soldering (yes, you'll play with fire!), and decorative finishing and leave with a beautiful, handmade ring! This is not just some craft project. You will be working on the same tools that I use myself as a professional silversmith and your ring will be professional quality. It's always a fun evening! You'll be floored by what you can create! **The price of the class includes copper or brass to make your ring. If you are interested in making a ring in sterling silver, look for my other class "Make a Silver Ring With a Silversmith.**
I came to Chicago as a professional actor a decade ago, but while here I fell in love with my true passion: metalwork! I took a weekend class over 8 years ago, and I couldn't stop creating. Now, I'm a full-time metalsmith with my own custom and handmade jewelry business and a studio and storefront in Chicago's prestigious Old Town neighborhood. I like to say that I'm 70% classroom-taught and 30% self-taught. I want to share my passion with you...who knows, maybe jewelry-making will be your new obsession!
Equipment and Materials I'll have a selection of brass and copper metals as well as a workshop full of tools.
