What you'll do
Discover Argyle & Andersonville, two of Chicago's best neighborhoods, on one tour! Enjoy foods from Vietnam, the Middle East and Sweden as you walk the tree-lined streets of this beautiful area.
- Explore Asia on Argyle. Chicago's 'other' Chinatown is now home to the city's Southeast Asian community.
- Experience the mouth-popping contrasts of Vietnamese flavors and learn how the cuisine has evolved over time.
- Meet the generations of migrants and immigrants who have crafted Chicago's Uptown into the unique neighborhood you'll see today.
- Stumble on a forgotten silent film studio and hear why Hollywood's biggest star turned his back on Chicago.
- Celebrate Andersonville's Lebanese, Persian and Turkish cultures with a guided Middle Eastern spice tasting.
- Immerse yourself in the immigrant story at the Swedish American Museum, and sample one of Sweden's best treats.
- Find a treasure trove of quirky, independent shops that you won't see on the Mag Mile.
- Sink your teeth into the pie that made Food & Wine's list of Best in America.

Chicago is the food city I was looking for. I moved here more than 25 years ago for a corporate job that I soon ditched for culinary school. After years of teaching cooking classes and running one of the city's busiest gourmet delis, I wanted to reconnect with what I love about Chicago...it's vibrant neighborhoods and deep cultural food roots. Our downtown is stunning, but so much of what makes Chicago great lies beyond the Loop. Let me show you around.

This tour with Phyllis was great. She’s very knowledgeable and clearly has a passion for the communities we toured. I loved the variety this tour provided. I’ve done a fair number of food tours and I thought the opportunity to test different spices was truly unique and excellent. I think Phyllis also did a nice job of balancing this tour- the right amount of walking, the right amount of history versus current events, great variety of foods to taste. Phyllis was extremely conscious of safety and of making sure that each of her guests were considered. I highly recommend this tour.
