Taste a mouth-watering array of foods such as lángos, Hungarian stew, potato paprikash, chocolate, strudel and much more as you sample the gastronomic delights of Hungary during this 2-hour market and food tour with Agnes or Andrew at Budapest’s largest and oldest market steeped in atmosphere.

Explore the specialty food stalls, see how the locals shop and sample Hungarian savory/sweet specialties.

Along the way you will experience a unique slice of Budapest’s one-of-a-kind culinary culture.

We offer a memorable travel experience with fantastic food and lots of Hungarian culture. We like to think of our Budapest market and tasting tour as a pleasant walk with local friends, that lets you taste delicious local foods and provide insight with lots of interesting local information.

We start the tour early at 9:00 to avoid the crowds coming in later.

This tour of the Great Market Hall was fun, informative, and tasty! Andrew is a chef and he gave us an engaging tour of the market, tempting our palates with everything from lángos to brandy-filled chocolates. I kind of thought we might try a few more items based on other reviews - we got to eat a good bit, but could have tried a few more items :-) Andrew's international experience and his command of English make him an informative and entertaining host. He was eager to answer our questions and went out of his way to do so. After our tour, we went back and got a few souvenirs - Andrew's orientation was just what we needed to know what to buy where. Lastly, one person on our tour was also a chef, and hearing the exchanges between her and our host was an added source of fascination!

I highly recommend Andrew's food tour. He's very knowledgeable, not only about the food in the market, but all things Hungarian. We really enjoyed sampling the various dishes that Andrew gave us but also learning so much about Hungarian history and politics along with the food. Well worth the time and money.

A great way to start your day. Ask the tour guide Andrew about dried peppers, folklore embroidery, local sweets, history, architectural design of the hall.....name it...and he probably has the answer! I had fun

You have to do this when in Budapest if you have any interest in food and/or food culture! The market hall is amazing on its' own, but together with these guides you get under the surface. Definitively our best experience during the entire trip!

This market can be overwhelming for a tourist, but Andrew's detailed tour distilled the frenzy into a gem of an experience. Expect tons of gastronomic insights as promised—but also welcome tangents into other topics, like Hungarian regions, history, and even insider market knowledge. The food is diverse. And yes, there is a lot of it. I am still full from this tour and it has been days.
