What you'll do

This trek starts at 8:30 am with a walk thru the village of Riomaggiore. You'll learn about it's history and see some photos from Past to Present as we start up on our hike. We'll go through the vineyards and talk about grape growing. You will also learn about the wine that Cinque Terre produces and how hard it is to harvest here. We"ll reach up above Riomaggiore & Manarola for some of the best views of the area. Then heading back along the upper vineyards we go down towards Groppo and pass the olive groves before reaching Manarola. Here we walk our way thru the back alleys and reach the sea. We"ll go out along the marina and out for the photo that everyone has come to take. No problem, we will take photos of you on this trek and especially in at this stop. This will end our time and you can grab a nice lunch as well.
Other things to note
We do our best to make sure you are safe and will take breaks for photos. Sneakers will work for walking shoes

I have been living in Cinque Terre for over 15 years and first came here 22 years ago as one of you, a tourist. I have found passion for the area and it's people. To take you on a hike here and have you learn about it's rich history and how hard these people had to work to make Cinque Terre is just is incredible story. I want you come and discover the beauty that Cinque Terre holds for you. Many people come here, but leave without really knowing what they have seen or understand it's real history. This is what I want to show you and have you leave with appreciation of the area and it's people.

Where you'll be

We meet in front of the Station Bar at the train station, if you are staying in Riomaggiore, then we can set up a meeting point the evening before and do a short little tour. This way you get to find out where to have a nice drink for sunset or where to get a nice dinner and get a feel for the area.

The trek more than met my expectations. I learned a great deal about the region and the people who call the Cinque Terre their home. I also learned how the vineyards have been worked and maintained for hundreds (thousands) of years. The diversity of the ecosystem is amazing. The scenery is spectacular. I would happily do it again. Thanks, Pall and Birgit. I very much enjoyed the trip!

Book this tour now! You won’t regret it. I loved every minute of my hike with Pall... he was so knowledgeable about everything/ the history, the terrain, the plants, etc. He took me through paths where no one was on & I would never be able to go back & do it on my own again. What a wonderful experience & I absolutely loved it. He recommended for me to go to Porto Venere after the hike & that was really beautiful too. It is a private tour & you won’t be stuck with a whole bunch of people... a must-do!!

Pall is absolutely the best English speaking guide you could find in this area! He's an American who moved to the Cinque Terre area 25 years ago, and he knows almost everything about this beautiful area -- its history, its stories, its vineyards, its people, its best picture-taking trails, the plants, the hidden paths for hiking... It was very informative and I enjoyed both the stories and the beauty of the nature a lot. Pall is a very nice guy who was always fun and easy to talk to too. As for the level of difficulty of the hiking: I'm a female college student who went to join Pall's experience by myself, and I go to gym occasionally but rarely hiked before, so the hiking part was new to me. But the hiking was not that challenging, as we were always stopping and talking about histories/stories/people etc. Also Pall was very kind -- he had chosen a moderate hiking trail, had been patient and encourages me throughout the hiking, he has taken a good care of me. FYI I believe if you have a preferred path or want to have multiple days of tours with Pall it is possible too if you ask Pall about it.
