Where you'll be

O'Leary's Cabin is at the far end of the Rivergate Estate. It is the original stable block for Bette Davis' house Riverbottom. Named for Humphrey Bogart's character in the 1939 Dark Victory, its a charming one bedroom house, with vaulted ceilings. The arches of the stable block line the courtyard.

Amelia (Amy) was a truly genial and lovely art teacher. If she had been my childhood instructor I think I may be as accomplished as Picasso by now, rather than the complete tyro that I was a week ago. This experience was much more than a workshop on how to paint something. Rather, it was a total experience of art: how to make a canvas, how to mix paint, how to paint basics, how to transfer images, and how to correct mistakes using sandpaper. The workshop took place at a very sophisticated garden, where the swimming pool and guest houses embodied a Moroccan aesthetic. Plenty of lounge chairs and a ginormous hammock created a sense of ease in the garden. Most of all, Amy was a super hostess who made us all feel very welcome. Totally great experience--highly recommended!
