Discover Amsterdam like a local by bike

Amsterdam, Netherlands

What you'll do

A bike tour is the best way to cover the most ground in a short amount of time. It will also let me show you some lesser known places farther outside the city center. On this visit, we'll pass through the narrow, quiet streets of the Jordaan neighborhood, enjoy the view of the tallest wooden windmill of the country, and absorb the sights and smells of a street market.

This tour will give you an intimate but accurate impression of everyday life here. There are plenty of opportunities to take pictures in the lesser known corners of parks and streets, ask me questions about living and working in The Netherlands, and navigate the bike lanes like a local.

Amsterdam is a city that sparks questions and curiosity. Whether you are interested in history, politics, or water management, Amsterdam is full of stories that will captivate you. Let me share them with you.
Other things to note
Participants should know how to ride a bike before joining the bike tour. The tour is not a race, but we will navigate between cars and use the brakes and bells as we move through the city.

Originally from Barcelona, I have called Amsterdam home since 2011. Since moving here, I've set aside an engineering career in favor of learning, exploring, and sharing the city with visitors as a tour guide. I've guided more than 2000 groups and 50000 people through this city's most beautiful neighborhoods, parks, and squares - I hope that you are next!

Where you'll be

In addition to the main attractions, on this tour we will see the crooked houses of Jordaan, learn about the canal system and its houseboats, or discover a coffeeshop in a police station. The other red light district (yes there is more than one!), the replica of an 18th century Dutch East India Company cargo boat, or the tallest wooden mill of the country, among other beautiful locations of the city.

My wife and I really enjoyed Xavi’s guided tour. We learnt a lot from him about the city and went to very interesting areas just outside the very busy part. I can strongly recommend the tour as he is a very good guide and takes time to answer questions. There was only us on the tour as well so a very personal guided tour.

This tour was perfect and I would highly recommend it to anyone! Xavi was a great guide and really friendly and knowledgable. If you are interested in biking around Amsterdam but are scared to rent bikes and do it on your own, this tour is exactly what you need. Xavi went at a perfect pace so that you could take all the beauty in, rather than getting out of breath or sweating. I also really liked how this tour avoids the craziness of the very center of the city. I think it was a perfect mix of calm/quiet areas with some busier as well.
