What you'll do

The experience includes an easy-medium level trekking on one of the most beautiful routes of “Parco dell’ Etna”, where you will discover the colors and natural beauties of Europe's most active volcano, AWAY FROM THE CROWDED TOURIST AREAS.

You will enjoy the spectacular lunar landscapes that Etna offers, between ancient and new lava flows, across pine, chestnuts and birch forests. Along the pathway, you will reach the majestic "VALLE DEL BOVE", from where it will be possible to observe the SUMMIT CRATERS and the most recent lava flows.

Total roundtrip duration of this segment about 3 hours, difficulty and distance available to change by arrangement with the guide.

Afterward, you will explore the depths of the volcano through one of the most interesting LAVA CAVES around Etna. You will walk through a lava tube through which lava once flowed, equipped with helmet and lamp.
Other things to note
The trek presents an easy-medium level of difficulty, take with you comfortable shoes suitable for hiking and outdoor clothing. The temperature may be lower than in Catania by 10 to 15°C.

Where you'll be

Mount Etna: it is beautiful not only for its eruptions and for its lava flows, but also for the unique environment surrounding it, rich in sounds, perfumes, and colors. An enchanting landscape protected by a park you cannot miss the opportunity to visit if you are in Sicily.

It was just me and my friend on the tour with Giuseppe, so it felt very relaxed and personal being in a small group. We had a really lovely morning climbing through Etna’s forest and seeing the spectacular valley! Mount Etna was actually highly active during our hike, so it was an amazing thing to witness - Giuseppe took us to a great viewing spot where we could even hear the small explosions taking place within the main crater! The route was perfect - I am a beginner in hiking and didn’t find it challenging. It’s a great way to visit Etna up close, especially if you aren’t looking to spend a whole day there!

The tour was great, there was only two of us and we were taken off the beaten track, away from the part of Etna that the main groups of tourists see. The walk itself was only 6km but the climbs were steep and walking through some ash was difficult with trainers. The views were fantastic and the valley of lava took our breath away. Guiseppe also showed us a great place to watch sunset and recommended a fantastic restuarant frequented by Catanians in Nicolosi!

Giuseppe is a wonderful, warm, and knowledgeable guide that we were so fortunate to meet with. We were a party of four (2 adults, 2 children aged 10/8. The terrain is easy to medium and Giuseppe constantly took time to ensure all in the group were okay. His local knowledge was positively wonderful! Would absolutely recommend!!!

It was a lovely trip to beautiful Etna. Giuseppe was a great host and the group was very small. The best way to see the Etna without the big tourist groups.
