Grazie, a presto!

Manuela and her family are delightful. They provided a very rewarding and fun afternoon. It started w a meal at the family table including delicious pastas made from a kind of heirloom wheat grown on the farm -- a very nice spread of local food and wine. The sculptor Giani and the beekeeper dined with us. After lunch we moved to the open air stone sculpting studio on the upper terrace across from the house - a beautiful spot with an elevated view of the surrounding farm and ideally situated for sunset-gazing through the old arches. Giani was an excellent teacher. Patient, informative and helpful. He showed us step-by-step techniques for carving a large limestone flower petal relief. It was very exciting to see the sculture take form. Two super cute white dogs accompanied us as the sun came down, and we finished our sculptures with Giani's enthusiasm never waning. This was an authentic, high-quality Sicilian experience. I won’t forget the kindness and hospitality of Manuela, Manuela's mother Loredana, father Rosario and our teacher, Giani. This was one of the best experiences of our visit. Thank you, famiglia Sarcià and Giani! P.S. The face cream, herbs and fruit jams that I purchased from the farm are wonderful! Don't miss out on these goodies.

Amazing experience, from start to finish! You MUST go. We took a train tot he local town, and Manuela picked us up in her car. We drove through beautiful countryside to her family's 160 acre farm and former stone quarry. The site is exceptionally beautiful. When we arrived, we sat down to lunch with her family (vegetarian for my friend), with all of the food grown on the farm. Then, we went to the gorgeous quarry above the home, and learned to carve limestone. Gianni was an exceptional artist and teacher, and the setting and vibe were truly stunning. Just do it!
