What you'll do
First, we'll stroll through the Mangwon neighborhood to Mangwon Market, which stretches for nearly 4.5 American football fields!
Next, I'll give a tour down the market, highlighting my favorite vendors and giving you a chance see which foods pique your interest. Then, we'll turn back around and visit the vendors that interest you. For example, we can join the locals to sample spicy platters of ddeokbokki (rice cakes) or skewers of steaming odeng (fish cakes). If you have a sweet tooth, we can try some piping-hot, sweet Korean pancakes (hoddeok)or visit a famous Korean doughnut stand that was featured on national Korean television. And don't forget to take some purple sweet potato crisps or fried squid for the road! Finally, we will head back to the station, with an optional scenic walk by the Han river.
Other things to note
Message me for alternate dates/times. Although I recommend being bold and trying new foods, you are welcome to just look around. Mangwon Market can get quite busy , so be prepared for a crowd!

When it comes to traditional markets, I'm a regular. I love to search for delicious snacks, find the best prices, and form relationships with the vendors. I'm passionate about living a zero-waste lifestyle, and I've earned the nickname of "BYOB guy" because I always bring my own reusable bags and containers to the market. Whether it's traditional Korean street food, vegetarian specialties, or local favorites that you're looking for, I'll show you the best!
Where you'll be
Mangwon Market is more than just a place to buy food. It is a hub of Korean culture and a center for the local Mangwon neighborhood. I shop here for the low prices, the ability to go zero-waste, and most importantly, for the delicious food!
I doubt you'll find a better deal for Korea tours on AirBNB than this. I mean come on, a local and absolutely clean food market, coupled with a passionate host who wants to give people a tour and guide of the market he frequents for his grocery shopping? The people on the tour were amazing too! Oh, for foreigners, please be sure to bring your passport to redeem a complimentary ₩5000 voucher which you can use at some food stalls in the market and share with your fellow tour mates!

Mangwon Market really was one of the best markets I have been to. It has a great variety of foods, clean, friendly. The market was full of local people and perfect for trying common Korean dishes. Matthew was helpful and very interactive with us. He offered us good amount of information and tips about the place. I would recommend the experience to many others!
