What you'll do
Sketching is one of the most unique ways to observe a bustling city like Dublin. Immerse yourself in the heart of Dublin's city center and find yourself seeing things from a sketchers perspective.
We'll meet at the Molly Malone statue in the city centre and explore Dublin like you've never seen it before. From historical structures in Trinity College to bustling life drawing on Grafton street to blooming gardens in Stephens Green, Dublin is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Weather depending we can work indoors or outdoors and we often finish off in an Irish pub or a local cafe to sketch and enjoy a refreshment. The sketch tour usually takes 1.5-2 hours.
Whether you are a full time artist or you haven't drawn since school , this is a great way to meet people from around the world and sketch your own personal response to Dublin city.
Times of trails are flexible so if you see a day you'd like but the time doesn't suit you please let me know. See you then!
John
Other things to note
Ireland's weather changes fast so we are always prepared to work indoors. Dublin has lots of open indoor markets and beautiful churches, libraries and galleries which we can sketch in for free.

This was a great experience. I had an interest in travel sketching as a way of journaling but didn't really have the confidence to jump in. John offered tips and explored a few different mediums from pencil and ink to watercolor.
John gave great advice at how to start the process and also how to bring more of a mood to your sketches, rather than worrying about precision and the details.
It was a delight to spend the morning with John. He was extremely friendly and it felt like sketching with a friend. He also gave some great recommendations of museums and things to do in the are.
I am looking forward to continuing my journey with sketching.

The sketching tour was a great experience. It provided a unique way to look at parts of Dublin, one very different from taking photos or just sightseeing. John was an excellent host. I enjoyed chatting with him and learning more about Ireland as well as getting some sketching tips. We stopped at two Trinity College spots plus the National Gallery, spending about 20-25 minutes at each area. I would recommend this tour to anyone regardless of their level of drawing experience.
