What you'll do

We will meet in Mexico City's historical center. From there, we will try some of the best and most Traditional dishes in the Mexican cuisine. I will not take you to touristic restaurants, but to the places where the every-day Mexican eats soy yo can try the true flavor of the Mexican cuisine.
After that we will go to try the famous pulque, a traditional Mexican beverage in one of the most traditional pulquerias in Mexico City, a hidden gem not only because of the pulque, but also the architecture.
We will head to a traditional market where we will find the most exotic ingredients of the Mexican gastronomy, like insects, iguana and crocodile. You can try them if you dare! Finally, we will try a traditional chocolate in a hidden spot near Bellas Artes.

A-MA-ZING! Definetly a wicked amazing experience to be immersed in the culinary traditions of the Mexican people. Starting from a typical old-style food we have then tasted some authentic pulque to pass at the exoticism of the insect-style, finishing with something more standard tacos. The experience is very well structured, the places and the food are really typical and authentic, Luis is a really nice guy, with knowledges of social sciences and anthropology that can help you to better understand the Mexican society in its complexity. He has been also really on time with the meeting and he had no rush during the experience. Honestly I have been really positively surprised: strongly suggested to everyone!

This was a great tour. I would highly recommend. It started with trying Pulque following with some street food and then the San Juan market where you can see the beautiful displays of fruit and anywhere from scorpions to rabbit. It is definitely a sight to see. You must try the scorpion and crickets. After getting over the fact of what it is, it is quite tasty. The tour finishes in a nice cafe on the 8th floor of the sears building, with a beautiful view. Luis was very knowledgeable. A must do tour in Mexico City.

This is a great (exotic) food tour kicking off with a visit to a Pulqueria which is very full of character to sample the Mexican ‘Pulque’ drink. You continue on to San Juan market where you can try an incredible variety of food including insects, Tequila worm, lion, armadillo, iguana etc... be as adventurous as you dare! Wrapping up at a rooftop cafe with incredible views. Luis was a great guide & I really enjoyed chatting to him throughout the tour.

This was a great experience for our first day in CDMX! We wanted to try some strange foods, which is why we picked Luis’s tour, and it didn’t disappoint - scorpion, crickets, armadillo, crocodile, all tasty. We also had some great blue corn tortilla street food for breakfast at a place that Luis knew well, and tried a few flavors of pulque at a colorful and unique pulqueria. The tour moved along nicely, Luis was really friendly and easy to talk to, and my boyfriend and I felt like we were hanging out with a friend. Highly recommend! If you want to see the historic center of downtown, this also starts and ends near there, which was convenient.
