What you'll do

From MoBay we'll journey to historic Falmouth. At the traditional open-air market, we'll see popular local foods that might be unfamiliar to you. After navigating the bustling crowd, I'll buy our cool drinks - coconut water is my fave! If there's interest, we'll visit a grocery (or 2), or just explore the quaint town.

At Fisherman's Beach where locals buy fresh fish, I'll treat you to a modest "cook-shop" lunch. Cold drinks (alcoholic and non) are available, & this is a great spot to unwind, chat with locals, & maybe play a game of dominoes or checkers.

On the way home we can optionally cool off with a swim in Greenwood &/or buy take-away dinner from Montego Bay's premier Jerk Hut, "Scotchies".

Throughout the day, I'll supply details about the local diet, gardening, meal preparation, customs & traditions, street food, roots, tonics, food-as-medicine, etc. Participants are welcome & encouraged to ask ANYTHING about island life that interests you, not just about food .

Tourists rarely get a chance to experience the real Jamaica - this is yours!
Other things to note
This experience focuses on local food/diet but guests who aren't foodies will still enjoy the drive, market, town, Fishing Village, swim in the ocean & stop at Montego Bay's most famous jerk centre!

A super-host for more than 2 consecutive yrs, I developed this unique experience for my guests, in response to their curiosity about local life.

I'm a free-spirit from rural Canada. I've studied & worked in a large range of fields fr cooking to teaching; fr hosting international ESL students in my home, to directing live theatre. I've also managed an NGO and lived & worked across JA!

Thru employment, marriage and 10+ yrs of life here, I've learned a lot about this island & her culture. Mainstream "tourism" can be a canned experience - my ecotours are a Doorway2Jamaica and, real daily life!
