What you'll do

Exploring the calm and tranquil life of northern Okinawa at a pace just right for the group's ability, without a strict time limit, I invite you to explore at a `Okinawan` Pace.

We will meet at a road station with its amazing views of Kouri Island, here is the last chance to use the bathroom, get changed and buy a drink. Follow me for 5 minutes to the launch site where you can park your car for free. After a short lesson about controlling the Kayak, depending on the tide levels, you may journey under or along Kouri Bridge and Warumio Bridge or possibly explore Haneji Inland Sea with its secluded beaches, secret islands and mangroves.
There will be the opportunity to see local wildlife and sea creatures and best of all take in some of Yambaru's beautiful atmosphere and idyllic surroundings.

I offer guests a fun and friendly tour of the gentle Yambaru area, customised to your needs and ability from protected waters to open sea. I hope to leave you with a strong feeling of peace and connection to nature.

The experience can be effected by the tide and weather, therefore departure times and departure point change throughout the week. You might prefer sunrise/sunset or simply want to enjoy the cooler time of the day - Please let me know your preferences.

Other things to note
If the wind or sea conditions are not suitable, I will communicate with you and arrange a better location or suggest a different day to maximize your enjoyment.
Face coverings can help protect from the sun, they can also cause breathing difficulties especially if they get wet, I do not recommend.

Nik is a awesome host to take you through the Kayaking experience. At no times will you feel unsafe and he remains calm and looks out for everyone safety. The waters were clear and weather was good as well and we saw various stuff around like a rare occasion to spot dolphins from a distance. Definitely recommended if you are looking in exploring the this side of Nago

1. Professional Very professional of Nik and he gets all the equipment prepared. Very different from my other kayaking trip where we were being thrown just life jackets and paddles. Thoughtful of Nik to have the splash jackets, reef shoes and protector from splash. Even have clean water to wash our feet after the trip. 2. Good tips on local hangouts Good recommendation of lunch place at the rikarika rest stop for some local okinawan food before the trip. Great view from there. 3. Kayaking experience Felt assured and safe during the trip despite this being a first time for some of my family members. Nik pulled us along with a rope tied when we have issues with paddling in the right direction. Great scenery at the lagoon, small islands with pine trees and japanese heron. Nothing but good review for this one!

We had a wonderful experience with Nik. When we arrived Okinawa there was a typhoon nearby, Nik was very accommodating and helped rearranged both kayaking and hiking on dates that was safe and enjoyable for us. It was our first time kayaking and Nik was very patient with us. He took us on a beautiful river hike to a waterfall. We had great conversations about our families and lives. We hope to see Nik next time when we go to Okinawa again. Highly recommended!

What an incredible day with Nik! The weather in my preferred destination looked bad with constant rain, so we drove around the shoreline to find another suitable kayaking area. As the conditions didn’t much change, we decided to walk to a waterfall. It was such an impressive play of nature with rain and the water flooding with such a power. He would’ve provided some raingear but I managed perfectly with my familymart raincoat and umbrella. Nik would’ve of course re-scheduled the kayaking if I preferred that, but this was perfectly fine to me! After the waterfall we drove around the northern part of the island and he showed me some amazing places like Cape Hedo and a really nice beach that was off the touristic routes. I would’ve never been able to do it on my own, not having a car or the knowledge of the best places like a local. He even picked me up and took me back to Nago where I was staying. Nik was truly kind and genuine person, I felt like we really connected. I’m already looking forward to the next trip to Okinawa some day and cathing up with him, maybe this time kayaking. :) Thank you so much Nik!! This was definitely the highlight of my trip!!
