What you'll do
Immerse yourself in the culture and history of the city. Indulge in a tasty local menu filled with authentic local ingredients. Explore San Jose by night, complete with local markets, cultural icons, and a tasty dinner with wine – that’s your evening sorted!
Starting with the Central Market, which, in our opinion, is the only way to learn about the city’s food (aside from eating it, which we’ll get to!). Stroll the market with your local guide and get to know the secrets and uses of the roots, herbs, and fruit common in local cuisines, including ingredients that will play a role in your authentic Costa Rican dinner later. After the market, we’ll make our way down Central Avenue, learning about the city’s history and anecdotes, as well as visiting one of the most architecturally beautiful buildings in San Jose, the National Theatre.
We’ll continue to charming Barrio Amon, one the oldest neighborhoods in San Jose. We’ll be spending the rest of the evening at a favorite local restaurant that specializes in wine and gourmet food. This cosy establishment offers the best in Costa Rican cuisine, a unique space that offers art, culture and history as well as fine dining.
Other things to note
Exclusions: transportation, also not included are additional food and drink. Wear comfortable shoes and clothe.
***On Mondays we use a different restaurant located in Aranjuez.

I am passionate tour guide, I am very positive, simple and easy going person I know very well about Costa Rican gastronomy, culture, local people and the secrets of the city. I like the outdoor activities, doing some hiking and anything who let me be in contact with nature and city too. I like to meet new people know other paradigms and other points of view and learn from each one of them.

Erick is a very knowledgeable guide and has many decades of experience with this tour. He was kind enough to give us the tour on his birthday, which shows his dedication to his profession. Note, there is A LOT of walking, so wear comfortable shoes. Great for active folks, not recommended for folks with mobility issues. The meal at the end was incredible and well worth the walking.

Loved the information that our cute little host provided. Gladys was very knowledgeable and passionate about her countries’ history and made it so fun to learn! The food at the restaurant was also fun and delicious. The one downside was that the driving in downtown San Jose is insane.... and parking is even harder- especially if you are a tourist from the states. It took our party 40 minutes to find a place to park and we had to start the tour without some of them. Other than the parking situation- I loved this experience!
