What you'll do

I will guide you around a Roman gastronomic paradise of over 30 vendors starting with sips of a truly rare white wine made from the ancient yet newly discovered Maturano del frusinate. We will sample cheese made by shepherds from the milk of their transhumance sheep that graze in high altitudes up to 1,200 feet. The sheep’s diet of wild mountain herbs give the cheese its distinct flavour since 3,000 + years. Next we will sample some of the most succulent and herbaceous pork meat that the Rome province has to offer alongside creamy bruschetta toppings made from seasonal plants on bread made from revived ancient Roman grains. How about more cheese? aged 3 years underground or made from goat milk that has almost passed away into extinction, yet we are able to taste it sprinkled with truffles. We will eat and drink our way through this local foodie landscape with over 20+ tastes. Make sure that you come with an empty stomach and avoid dieting on this day that I am pleased to educate you on the traditional and sometimes innovative small-scale farmers products that are an important cultural and tangible asset of Italy
Other things to note

Italy's small-scale farmer’s food scene has been my passion since 12 years ago when I started adventuring from one organic farmer's market to another filming, interviewing & writing about these special purpose driven artisans. I have partnered with Urban Adventures Ltd. to create Italy Agriturismo UA which connects travellers with small-scale organic producers for the ultimate foodie experience in the Italian countryside. I choose to support local small-scale farmers not only for the quality tastes but also to preserve biodiversity & sustainable farming methods. No Farmers, No Party! :)

Where you'll be

This group of farmers are special because they have been 3rd party certified by the Campagna Amica Foundation. Campagna Amica is considered an environmental organization by the Italian Ministry and ensures that the farmers that display the Campagna Amica logo are small producers that are practicing sustainable farming methods and are preserving biodiversity.

Brilliant opportunity to be part of a local cultural experience. This is a great market, it’s founding of important social and historic significance. Pietra introduced me ( I was lucky to be the only person on today’s experience) to many of the local producers and farmers and shared many stories. A truly enjoyable and unique experience and there’s certainly and abundance of magnificent food, wine and beer to be enjoyed!

We had such a great time with Pietra. We personally got to meet a couple of the farmers and speak to them about their food. We made a stop at Loretto’s stand and although we couldn’t communicate very well, the love for good cheese was mutual. It was a unique experience. You won’t regret sharing an afternoon with Pietra.

A great range of food and wine from the farmers' market. Pietra knows how to feed people - I was so full afterwards but very happy to have seen all of the best produce from Rome and its surrounds!
