What you'll do

First part of the tour:
I pick you up at your place 8am
We head to the Guachimontones archeological site, about an hour drive
We spend a couple hours discovering what used to be the shelter and rejoice of a unique civilization more than 2000 years ago.
The idea is to be the first ones at the pyramids, to avoid the crowds & the heat, to take good pictures & enjoy nature.
Then we lunch, either in Teuchitlán town or in Tequila town, a 45 min drive.
Second part of the tour:
At Tequila town, first we will visit one of the prettiest tequila distillery at the hills of the Tequila Volcano. La Cofradia holds a hotel boutique with barrel-shape rooms beetween the blue agave fields. We will walk around the factory to get involved in the tequila production. We will taste different tequilas and drink a margarita at their majestic cava (cellar), a human-made cave sorrounded by a lake.
Afterwards we will go to Tequila town: to walk around the plazas, kiosko, market, stores and take amazing pictures! The idea is to head back to Guadalajara around 4:30pm. You will be dropped off at your place 5:30pm.

Ask for extra spots, bigger groups and special dates!!
Other things to note
You´ll have a safe and comfortable trip
If you prefer to visit another tequila distillery, we can work it out
Pick ups only in Guadalajara and Zapopan counties, sometimes Tlaquepaquepaque, not Chapala

You won’t be disappointed! Alejandro is very knowledgeable and passionate about what he does. He knew more than the tour guides at the tequila factories. Throughout the day, he would ask us if we needed drinks, sodas or fruit that he provided, and if there were other things we wanted to see or items we needed to shop for. He was very detail oriented. We were a group of four women and felt very safe with him the entire time. He took us to a delicious restaurant for lunch, and then recommended a place for dinner that we loved.

Our tour was with David, Alejandro's brother. It turned out that there were just three on the tour. We rarely do tours when we travel and didn't know what to expect. David was on time picking us up at our location. His car was clean and comfortable, even the back seat. He frequently offered water or sodas that were available in a cooler in the trunk. We talked the entire drive and he had much information to share and answered many questions about the area. It was our first visit to this part of Mexico. It took about an hour to get to our first stop at the pyramids. He stopped on request so I could get some photos of a beautiful mural on the drive to the site. There is an informative exhibit hall to get a chance to understand more about the site. We then walked around the pyramids with further conversation and enjoying the views. We never felt rushed! David again stop in the town and gave us a quick chance to hop out and get some photos of the church tower before the drive to Tequila. We stopped again to get some photos in an agave field that had nice views of the mountains. Once we arrived in the town , he offered up suggestions for a lunch destination and we agreed on the central mercado which had a food court. We enjoyed our lunch which also had reasonable prices and didn't take too long out of the day. We then had an opportunity to walk around the town to see some of the sites, mainly the Cuervo hacienda and hear some of that history. He also gave us some time to shop before heading to the La Cofradia distillery. This part of the tour was conducted by one of the staff at the distillery. He was very informative on the process as we toured the facility. My favorite part was being able to table one of the pinas (heart of the agave) that had been cooked. Then we tasted some 60 proof tequila that is part of the process. Later we tasted the three tequilas they offer. There was no pressure to buy. I really appreciated that! The conversation continued on the drive back and David dropped up off at a location we requested instead of taking us back to our AirBNB. It was a wonderful day that we will remember fondly as we enjoy our many photos!
