What you'll do
We will meet in the entrance of the salsa factory. I will discuss all the ingredients that we use and explain the process and tools required for making a good salsa. We will have a tasting of some of the local products that we sell such as dried grasshoppers, worm salt, and other specialty products. However, we will save our appetites because our next stop is to harvest directly to the fields fantastic organic chiles and let´s create an authentic hot sauce Finally, we will finish our day with a traditional tlayuda (Large tortilla with beans, fresh cheese, salsa, and guacamole) accompanied by the house mezcal or a refreshing fruit-flavored water. Also if we have time we will try to make tortillas by ourselves and in the end of the tour, we will return back to the starting point.

10 years ago, I started my salsa factory in my grandmother’s kitchen! I fell in love with the process of local food production. So much so that I won an international title for the salsas that I produce and love to share the story of my projects and the fair/sustainable and local way in which we operate.
Where you'll be
The salsa factory works with the door closed to keep all the secret recipes safe, now it will be open to you for the experience.
After we will visit a zone slightly outside of the center that will give you good insight into the local way of life. Finally, we will visit Gerardo’s house where you can feel how it is to live as a Oaxacan farmer and the significance of the sustainable harvest for the community

This is a great tour that I would definitely recommend. We’ve learnt a lot about tortilla and salsa-making and it was super fun. We ended up buying a bunch of Abraham’s hot sauces because they are delicious. Him and his sister also went out of their way to recommend restaurants, activities and even helped us find a tortilla press.

Such a fun experience! Highly recommend.
Abraham rearranged his schedule in order to accommodate our group on a Sunday. We had an amazing time learning about his Salsas, Tortilla making and eating delicious food. We felt at home with his group, and they even shared their mezcal while we waited for a thunderstorm to pass. Thanks again, Abraham!

It was great tour and better experience than I expected. I can watch whole process of making tortilla and sauce. Then I can made them on my own!!
After that I had a superb quesadilla with chapulines, meats and many kinds of vegetables. Especially, the quesadilla with egg was so simple, but absolutely amazing!!
Anyway, I seriously recommend this tour if you want new and cool experience in Oaxaca.
Abraham was very good and kind guy and who always wants to help other people.
