What you'll do

We'll walk through the streets of Coyoacán, the most mexican and colorful neighbourhood of Mexico City and we are going to make four stops along the way to try some delicious mexican antojitos (snacks) like a handmade huitlacoche or squash blossom blue corn quesadilla, flautas and esquites. We'll visit some of its most famous spots and some others that you would probably miss if you go by yourself. Some of them are not so famous, but equally beautiful and interesting. During our walk through this beautiful neighbourhood, home of artists, writers, painters, actors and politicians, we'll enjoy its history, culture, art, music, food, squares and charming people. We'll walk through a flower market a nursery garden, squares, churches, cobblestone streets with beautiful XVIII century houses and learn about their history and legends. I suggest to plan some extra time after our experience is finished in case you want to stay around Coyoacán and visit other places like the Frida Kahlo's museum or the artisan market since those places are just a couple of blocks away from our last stop. What a great day huh?
Other things to note
We are going to walk around 2.5 miles on cobblestone streets, dirt roads and irregular floor.
Be sure to let me know of any food restrictions or allergies.
Once you book the experience you'll receive an e-mail with instructions to get to the meeting point, please make sure to read it.

I've been attached to Coyoacán almost my whole life by choice. To me, it is, by far, the most beautiful neighbourhood in the city. I started jogging at Los Viveros when I was 8 years old; years later, I used to play with my band in the main square. I teach, exercise and study in Coyoacán untill these days. I also took literature and history courses at the National University that made me appreciate its cultural richness even more. I' ve been in every corner and just keep discovering and rediscovering its secrets. Come and let me show you some of its greatest treasures!

So glad I had a chance to walk through the streets of Coyoacan with Javier. Truly knowledgeable and well paced tour of the city. Delicious treats along the way - especially the Huitlacoche quesadilla and chia seed-lime agua fresca! I enjoyed every part of the tour especially when Javier would share a story or legend about the places we were looking at. Javier was easy to communicate with and attentive to your needs. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to gain deeper insight into the history and culture of Coyoacan.

A joy to walk around and learn all about Coyocan from Javier. It was a great way to learn all about the area while we walked, chatted and ate. The food was delicious although I couldn’t eat the last dish as I was beyond full. Thank you Javier. We loved meeting you and thanks for sharing your love for Coyocan with us.

This was a wonderful introduction to Coyoacán, one of the highlights of this trip. Javier is such an interesting and friendly person and it is an exceptional opportunity for a tourist to actually be able to see and experience this lovely area with someone who grew up there and calls it home. So very different from taking large tours. Javier speaks both English and Spanish perfectly and somehow manages to make this both a relaxing day and a fun tour. Muchisimas gracias Javier!

If you go to Mexico City or it's surrounding area, you MUST experience the Colorful Streets of Coyoacan with Javier. It was and outstanding experience that we will not forget. Javier took us to places in beautiful Coyoacan that we would never have known to go on our own. We ate food that was absolutely the best on our trip that we would never have known to choose to eat. Javier is a very nice person with an immense knowledge of Coyoacan that he shares with you. The history alone that Javier share with us was fascinating, much less the vibrant colors and beautiful historic homes, churches, etc. Javier's tour of Coyoacan was the highlight of our trip to Mexico!!
