What you'll do

We'll meet at 9:30 in Gros neighborhood in front of Paries Cafe - located at Plaza Euskade #1 with a bright orange sign. From here we'll walk to the bus stop and catch a local bus (tickets provided) and head 5 km east of San Sebastian to the fishing village of Pasaia. We'll stroll through the picturesque fishing village and stop at a local art gallery and meet a local artist.
After this, we'll begin our walk along the Ruta de los Faros which winds its way over coastal cliffs. The first 1.5km is a bit of an arduous climb (about 150m up) with many rocks and stairs, but you can stop and take pictures and go at your own pace. Once we reach the top it levels off and we will be walking at a very comfortable, mindful pace. The Camino de Santiago follows a section of this trail. You will smell the sea air and sweet lilac flowers. You will leave the city behind you and feel at one with nature.
Once we get on the trail, the hike will take about 2.5 hours. We will come out at Zurriola Beach in San Sebastian. At this point, I'll give you some restaurant recommendations to help you get the most out of your stay in San Sebastian. And I'm always up for having a drink to chat about the area (if you are so inclined!)
Things to note:
The hike is suitable for people of most ages - excluding *young* children. Terrain is a little rocky with up and down parts. - moderate lev

Hola! I'm Lisa - originally from Ontario, Canada. I've been living here in San Sebastian for the last 10 years. It sure has been a crazy year, hasn't it? Walking in nature has always helped me feel relaxed and peaceful - especially during this last year. Now, people are traveling again and I'm SO very excited to share this beautiful hike with you. Let's walk together and feel the calming and enchanting effect of being in nature. I've taken more than 100 people on this hike from Pasaia (fishing village) - Zurriola (beach in Gros) - and I'm one of the top rated guides for this walk. Feel free to read my reviews and take a look at some of the photos my guests have shared on my page. And I hope to meet you!

Where you'll be

The village of Pasaia San Pedro where we will start our walk used to be Europe's main whaling port. For centuries, the great Basque expeditions set sail from Pasaia toward Newfoundland in Canada (my homeland). Pasaia is located in a bay protected from the Bay of Biscay. I love the history between Basque fishermen and Canada. The Way of St. James, better knows as the Camino de Santiago follows a section of the trail we will be walking along.

This was the best experience we had in San Sebastián. We loved every minute of our time with Lisa and the rest of the group we walked with. Starting in the nearby village of Pasaia was ideal, such a cute town that has a lot of history. If we had more time on our trip, we definitely would have come here on our own again to check it out more, but the amount of time we had there was perfect prior to starting on our hike. And a hike it was! We loved it, as we enjoy nature, meeting new people and exercising; it definitely wouldn’t be for everyone as there is a lot of uphill, but Lisa was accommodating and stopped along the way to ensure we weren’t missing out on any of the scenery, as well. She’s very intuitive when it comes to people and we really enjoyed her company. She’s knowledgeable about the area and has a lot of insight since she has lived there for so long. The scenery was absolutely stunning along the trail and to walk on the Camino de Santiago was really something to behold. It was unexpected but truly delightful to be able to share some pintxos and wine post-walk at one of Lisa’s favorite places. She helped us find the right pintxos for us and man were they delicious. We’d love to do other walks with Lisa in the future and really hope to! We would recommend you book with her immediately for a truly unique experience that will leave you really happy that you got outside of the city and became one with the nature the area has to offer.

Lisa was an amazing guide on this breathtaking hike! It was a day full of beautiful sights, fun conversation, exercise and some delicious food at the end. The only advice I can offer would be to wear comfortable and supportive hiking shoes!

What a perfect day! It was so fun to hop on the bus with our small group and end up in a town that took us back to whaling times. We stopped at a hole in the wall cafe filled with local characters and loved it. And then we were off...up so many stone stairs but distracted by the amazing views. The higher we climbed, the more breathtaking the scenery. Lisa is the best guide! She is so great to talk to, she's patient and makes sure to take time to go at a pace that works for everyone. This is a challenging hike but it is worth every minute. Being able to walk the Camino de Santiago for the day made this hike extra special. Lisa not only gave us a list of her favorite stops around town, but she took us to the best pintxos spot where we got to celebrate with our new friends. We loved our day with Lisa and our small group so much, we signed up to do her "Hike Coastal Vineyards/ Discover Getaria" experience two days later. Do both! They are so different and equally wonderful!! There's no better way to see the region than hiking with Lisa.

The hike was beautiful! Lisa was a fantastic guide and she added to the hike buy passing on stories about the area. She was really engaged throughout the hike with all of us. As you walked through the “bosque” you always had the ocean right next to you. The views of the coastline were exceptional. It gave us a different perspective of our stay in San Sebastián.

My husband and I had a wonderful time hiking the Camino de Santiago with Lisa. The entire experience was seamless, from meeting up with Lisa in central San Sebastián, to the hike leading off from a nearby village, to finishing off with a vermouth back in San Sebastián. The hike was absolutely breathtaking, and a nice cardio activity after days of overeating. Lisa herself is wonderful and we really enjoyed getting to know her and hearing the tales of her travels and life as an expat in SS. And don’t miss out on her great recommendations for local restaurants and activities. Highly recommend!!

Lisa was a wonderful guide! She was super friendly from the start and made my wife and I feel like we've known her for years! The hike itself was absolutely breathtaking and getting to experience the tiny, beautiful fishing village of Pasaia before the hike was worth the price of the experience alone!
