Cycle down to Hatton. Train ride back.
Experience hosted by Prateeque
6 hours
Includes drinks, equipment
Up to 8 people
Hosted in English
What you'll do
We'll meet at Nuwara Eliya City Center and first get familiar with the bikes and some safety points.
We then start cycling out of town up to Nanu Oya, from where we get of the main road and start winding our way down to Hatton. The route is through the tea fields, so you can say what the life of a tea picker looks like.
We come out back on the main road at Talawalkelle and enjoy the gentle downhill roads to Hatton.
At Hatton we get on the train and enjoy the scenic ride back up to Nanu Oya.
Other things to note
You will need to organise your own transport from Nanu Oya Railway station to your hotel. I can help you with the tuk drivers.
Please send me a message with your height for bike sizing.

I left a corporate job to start an adventure tourism company in Sri Lanka. I have travelled extensively in India and Sri Lanka. I have a passion for the outdoors and the country. I believe there's no better way to see the country than on the back of a bicycle. You literraly remove the "glass" between and your environment.
Where you'll be
The route has 3 main different sections. The Nanu Oya to Tallawakelle is on off road trails winding through the tea fields. No technical skills needed.
Tallawakelle to Hatton is on the stunning roads with views of the surrounding valleys.

Wow, what an experience! After a night of heavy rain we weren’t sure about this activity, but after a few minutes on the bikes we knew this would be a great day. The misty morning made the ride through the tea plantations very atmospheric. Prateeque and the team offer guests a truly unique experience, which I don’t believe can be replicated. The scenery is speculatular, the bikes are top notch, and safety and comfort are guaranteed. We intend to return to SL to do further cycling with the team. Don’t hesitate in booking this experience. It’s really a once in a lifetime adventure. I will be recommending this to everyone I know who visits SL!

Raket was a great tour guide. highlights of the experience:
- see local villages, kids playing around, women picking tea leaves.
- offroad cycling was fun
- sitting by the edge of the train and watching the beatiful views on the way back
* i think that high fitness level is required for the uphill parts. Expect a total of 30-40min uphill.
* but most of the time will be downhill.
Also, dylan was a great help. He basically drives behind us in his van in case anything happens.
I highly recommend this experience!
