What you'll do
Leaving the city centre behind, we visit the Parnell Rose Gardens and admire the roses and views over Judges Bay and the Port. We then travel along Tamaki Drive, making several stops; the Orakei Marina to see the sailing boats moored there; learn the history of Mission Bay; admire the views at the Achilles Point Lookout; see the Savage Memorial and hear about the significant part Bastion Point has played in New Zealand history. From here we will travel along a street where some of Auckland’s wealthy live. After a drive through the Auckland Domain, we visit Cornwall Park, an urban oasis. Here we see Acacia cottage, Auckland’s oldest surviving cottage, built in 1841 and the Huia Lodge Discovery Hub. We travel on to see Maungakiekie / One Tree Hill, an extinct volcano, Māori archaeology site and, as it is a working farm, hopefully see some sheep and cattle. From here we take you back to where the tour started, or if you wish, can drop you at the Auckland Museum.

Our experience was with Richard, Diane's husband and what a great time we had. He was extremely knowledgeable and made us feel very welcome to a part of the world we had not been to before.
Our morning /early afternoon took us through various known and not so well-known areas in and about Auckland. It was truly a delightful experience that we'll always remember. Thank you Richard!

Outstanding conversation and information on the local area provided by Richard. It was great to travel for the day with someone who knows the area. We would not have been able to see or understand Auckland if we hadn’t taken this tour. Highly recommend. Thank you!!!

No visit to Auckland would be complete without this tour. Richard - Diane's husband was the perfect guide. We went far along the coast and stopped at various places for locals and tourists alike. We visited Mission Bay all the way to Gentlemen's Bay, to the Auckland War Memorial - where we sat sipping coffee and eating Anzac cookies- to Cornell Park, and the rose garden. It was a great tour, Highly recommended.
