What you'll do

Together we’ll explore central Auckland's must-see hidden lanes, landmarks, charming squares and parks. From downtown to uptown, you'll see more with us because we walk and hop on the locals’ bus! Plus we reveal the city's best food spots.

"A perfect 101 experience to jump-start your Auckland visit" said James, USA (guest).

This small-group tour kicks off downtown on Queen Street before weaving through back lanes to an early fortress. Along the way you'll learn about Auckland's Maori heritage and European colonization. You'll discover the city's award-winning art gallery, Albert Park, street art, sculptures, designer boutiques and popular cafes. We'll pause to mingle over a complimentary drink at a classy art-deco hotel (as this tour includes a treat or two) followed by a tasting at a top chocolate boutique.
A short bus ride uptown will reveal an arty neighborhood and a bird-filled valley above Auckland's town square. On returning to Queen Street, you'll leave armed with loads of local advice and a new New Zealand friend .

So walk this way to kickstart your stay. With a born-and-bred friendly Aucklander as your guide. Our shared group tours resume October'20 on select days. Please message if you'd prefer a private tour or alternative date.
Traveling solo? Please message first with your date BEFORE booking as this tour requires a min of 2 people.

Liz was great, having someone who was local and had in depth knowledge of the land and culture made this a wonderful experience. Liz is a great host which made it like you were touring with a close friend.

We arrived in Auckland yesterday and walked around quite a bit so to share it today with Joe made our time much more meaningful. She was wonderfully interactive, knowledgeable and filled with love for her hometown. We explored small alleyways, squares and parks that we would have been unlikely to find ourselves and Joe shared each venue’s unique story which made seeing them much more interesting. She left us with many more ideas and places to see on our own which is very helpful. Definitely worth doing so if you are hesitating – go for it!

We did this tour with Joe and it was fantastic!! Joe was warm, friendly, funny and lively with excellent knowledge of the city and its history. We did this walk at the beginning of our five day stay in Auckland and it really set the scene - giving us some great ideas on where to visit, eat, drink and shop!! Definitely recommend!!

Book this tour you will not be disappointed! Liz was an absolute delight, she took a great interest in each person in our small group of 4 people. We explored areas we would never have found on our own, Liz was excellent at answering all our questions with a lot of humour and knowledge. It was a very entertaining, enjoyable tour.

A really worthwhile very small walking tour with a really friendly and knowledgeable local guide Liz. The tour included a stop for coffee in a small hotel plus a choice of handmade chocolates in a nearby shop. The walking was at a leisurely pace to suit all abilities and halfway through we hopped on a bus to take us to another part of Auckland city. Lots of history and anecdotes. A really good introduction to the city. Highland recommended
