About your hosts

Myself and my father, Rodger are the owners of Grizzly Iron, Inc. which is an architectural iron and blacksmith shop that has been in business for over 30 years. Rodger is a full-time blacksmith and has trained with some of the best smiths in the world. We both have a passion for teaching and passing on our knowledge of this amazing trade.

What we’ll do

In this 3 hour class we will work on one of several projects. We will make a bbq steak turner, a cheese slicer, or a bottle opener. You do not need any prior experience and this class is suitable for ages 12+. Closed toed shoes are mandatory and those without will not be able to participate. Cotton clothing is recommended. Avoid synthetic clothing since it can melt. Jeans and a cotton top is best.

Where you'll be

You will be immersed into the world of blacksmithing and ironwork surrounded by large industrial machines from a different time. Some of these would be considered antiques but we use them as tools in our craft. We are right on the edge of downtown Phoenix and a 10 minute drive from the airport.
