What you'll do

You will experience for yourself, the only tour of this kind in the world, and also learn what makes Coffin Bay Oysters world famous!

We will wade out into the pristine clear waters of Coffin Bay and sit on our purpose built Salt Water Pavilion (the only one of its kind in the world) right in the heart of a working commercial oyster farm.

I'll show you oysters at various stages through their growth cycle from infant oysters, through the teenage years, and into maturity.

Learn about how I farm oysters, and taste famous Coffin Bay Oysters straight out of the water.

Experience a hands-on shucking lesson where you will learn to shuck Oysters for yourself.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and an up-close and personal experience with the Oyster Farmer himself! An oyster lovers dream come true, and a culinary adventure not to be missed.

After the tour, enjoy a drink and/ or lunch at Oyster HQ our brand new 'Cellar Door' for Oysters and the freshest Eyre Peninsula Seafood you'll find, overlooking the pristine waters of beautiful Coffin Bay. In summer, enjoy the deck outside over the water, whilst in winter enjoy getting snuggly by the roaring toasty fire.
Other things to note
Please arrive 20 minutes prior to scheduled tour start time, to allow time to checkin and be fitted for waders.

Transport option is also available from Port Lincoln. Please enquire to discuss

Im an Oyster Farmer, and a local in Coffin Bay. Ive been oyster farming for more than 10 years in Coffin Bay & Streaky Bay, the heart of the worlds best oysters.

Wade out through the water to my purpose built Salt Water Pavilion (I built it myself, Im also a builder) and let your feet dangle in the water, whilst taking in the beautiful view of Coffin Bay.

During the tour, ill share with you my knowledge of how oysters are farmed, some history of Coffin Bay, and Oyster growing regions along the coast of the Eyre Peninsula.

I'll also teach you the highly sought after skill of learning to shuck your own oysters, ensuring you leave as an oyster officionardo!

The tour was one of the most unique experiences I've had! Even just putting on the waders felt like an exciting event (I may have to get my own personal pair.) Our guide was so knowledge and funny, and not only were the oysters delicious, I learned far more about farming and the industry than I expected. I learned to appreciate the oysters on my plate far more than I ever had before — not just because of how much work farmers put into the process, but also just because of how oysters breed, grow, live and operate as living things. They're pretty cool! I would do the tour all over again in a heartbeat. The people guiding our tour were beyond kind and friendly, even though it was a very busy Australia Day. We couldn't have had a better time.

We travelled to Coffin Bay for this experience. It did not disappoint! Ben was a great host, really friendly, genuine and knowledgeable. The oysters and wine were exquisite, and being able to do it all in the water was amazing!!

Great experience at any time of year. Wearing waders, walking out to the lease and learning how to shuck oysters was fun. I learnt a lot more about the oyster industry from Ben. Tasting the freshly shucked oysters with a glass of wine was excellent.

This tour was very unique and nothing we would find anywhere else in Oz. Bens cheeky personality was a bonus - he made it that extra bit enjoyable! He and his wife’s knowledge of the surrounding areas and their field was exceptional! They went above and beyond to offer us the rare oysters for our lunch platter afterwards - which was the best we had in Port Lincoln! Local and fresh - and with an amazing view out to their oyster farm! I highly recommend!
