What you'll do

History, nature and architecture the all in one experience.

We will be visiting the "Cacique" lagoon (where the legend of "El Dorado" borns) It was in these precious waters that the Muisca's cacique (indigenous tribal head) would offer the Gods elaborate gold pendants and figurines, which were sunk in a ritual believed to fuel his Godlike power and also bathing in gold and submerging their bodies in the lagoon.
Then we will walk through the magical streets of Guatavita, one of the most Instagrammable places in Cundinamarca (if you like photos, landscapes and stories this is your experience). It should be noted that in this experience you will have the opportunity to meet the vegetation of the Andean Forest as well as the largest water factories in the world, the Subpáramos.
The experience begins in Bogotá where we will travel to the beautiful little town called Sesquilé, Cundinamarca, film landscapes will await for us and where your look will lose in the green "sea" of the mountain, we will make a brief walk to know the lagoon and its legendary stories where you can take amazing photos and clean your lungs with the mountain air, then end up in Guatavita and the gigantic reservoir of water called "Embalse de Tominé", where you will have the opportunity to taste its famous regional desserts and its typical Gastronomy.
Other things to note
The walk that we will do only requires a good health condition.
The cost of entry to the Regional Park is: 6 usd for foreigners and 4 usd for residents.
For private groups or larger than 4 people I am able to offer private transportation.

Hospitality is my specialty, do not hesitate to ask me what you need, I will help you! Diego was a wonderful host. We highly recommend his tour before he goes back to Mexico! He provides an experience that you would not be able to do easily in a single day. It is not easy to get out of the city to el dorado, and Diego pairs that with a great cultural experience that has it all. A few wonderful food stops, some light hiking trough the lush papa farms, a history lesson into the legend of el dorado, and a tour of the beautiful town of guatavita. Really good experience that is rare for a tourist in Bogota! A+

I consider this a must-do day trip if you have the time while you’re in Bógota. If you spend any time in the city at all, you will probably go to Museo del Oro, and going to Guatavita feels like an extension of that experience, but more connected to the land itself. Diego was a great guide and took us on a hike through breathtaking farm country that I never would have found on my own and surely isn’t part of a standard Guatavita excursion. I’m in Colombia to improve my Spanish, and he was very patient and helpful with me! (Diego is also a great guide if you don’t speak Spanish, as the interpretive guide at Guatavita itself was presented only in Spanish, so you would want someone like Diego to help you translate.)

This was an awesome experience! It was great that Diego arranged private transportation and the hike to the Guatavita lagoon was gorgeous. Afterwards, we had an awesome lunch and walk around the village of Guatavita. Diego was a really nice guy and I strongly recommend taking this trip with him to take some time outside of Bogotá and see the beautiful nature of the mountains.
