What you'll do

We meet at the main train station (Gare Cornavin) and hop on one of the public trams and busses. After a short ride to the French border, we walk about 5 mins to the cable car which departs every 15 minutes and takes us up to the Mont Saleve, to 1.100m. From there, we start with an easy hike up to the top of the Salève 1.379m while we are passing a Buddhist monastery. We will enjoy the magnificent view over Geneva and the French Alps. From there we will walk slightly downwards until we reach our final hiking path away from the main tourist locations. We will hike up and down, partly along the ridge of the Saleve on a narrow path and stop at a big painting on the rock. In the end, we will have a traditional swiss picknick with original swiss sausage (cervelat), swiss cheese, bread or baguette and a glass of wine.

I am open to any question and would like to tell the story of Geneva, the surrounding Alps and the area around.

Attention: This hike is just for experienced hikers with steady feet and without fear of heights. You should be fit enough to hike up to 3 hours and approximately 450m of altitude gain

Where you'll be

Even though the Saleve is in France, it is known as the 'balcony of Geneva' with great vistas of the city, the lake and the jet d'eau.

I enjoy exploring off-the-beaten track paths and can show you interesting areas away from the typical tourist locations.
We will spend the day on the back and on the west side of the Saleve, switching from good trails to narrow paths along the ridge.

Es war ein fantastischer Ausflug und eine kurzweilige Wanderung. Björn ist ein kommunikativer und aufgeschlossener Wander- und Schweizexperte. Zu empfehlen!

I had a great time with Bjorn and went on a hike that I would not have found and be able to go on my own. He tailored the hike to my level of fitness. We had great conversations along the way. I would encourage anyone who wants to get outside the city and have a world class hike to sign up for the tour. Don

It was a great opportunity to see breathtaking views of Geneva, lake Leman and the Alps. Bjørn guided through the tour, told lots of interesting stories about Switzerland and other countries. I am really glad I took this hiking tour! Tips: before booking just make sure you have suitable shoes for hiking, as it includes descending some steep paths, and of course, you should’t be afraid of heights!)

This was a great experience! Bjorn had a lot of knowledge and was able to teach me a lot about Geneva whilst we were on the hike. The picnic was delicious and there were loads of opportunities to get unique photos. There is no way that I could have done this on my own and it was fantastic that Bjorn took care of the transport, lunch and hike. I would highly recommend!

Bjørn was right up there with all the outdoor guides I’ve ever met. He was knowledgeable and ran the trip with safety in mind, and took us on a great local trip. It was an awesome, personable intro to the hiking around Geneva and went through some really cool views with some awesome background on the locations provided by Bjørn. The picnic was great with local food I probably wouldn’t have picked out on my own, too. Awesome all-inclusive package for some really good outdoors in Geneva with a guide who knows his stuff!
