What you'll do

Escape tourist agencies and get to discover Buenos Aires from an anthropological point of view. Don't expect to just walk and listen: be prepared to talk, make questions, taste mate and discuss about the past, present and future of the Argentinean capital.

Beginning in General San Martín Plaza and ending in Recoleta Cementery, this walk offers you the chance to approach this beautiful city from its historical past in an attempt to understand its current present.

Why was Buenos Aires called "the Paris of South America"? Who "inhabits" the Recoleta cemetery and what mysteries does it contain? What was the "Belle Epoque" and how did it change the city? Which was the role of large landlords in the development of the country? Was Argentina really a world economic power?

These are just some of the many questions we will try to answer in our walk through the most aristocratic part of town.
Other things to note
Curious people are welcome! Come with questions, walking mood, comfortable shoes, your camera and a bottle of water.

Aldana really knows what she's talking about! We were staying in Recoleta so wanted to learn more about the neighbourhood, and Aldana gave us exactly that. Her English is perfect so we were able to talk freely and ask questions, and explore the beautiful architecture and fascinating history of the area. Highly recommend if you're staying in the city.

The Recoleta for Curious People Tour with Aldana was the best way to visit this unique Buenos Aires neighborhood. I have been staying in the area for several weeks, but had no knowledge of the history, the buildings, the parks and the many monuments throughout Recoleta, Retiro and Palermo Chico. Aldana provided the background information which made the neighborhood and its history come to life. If you are interested in learning about this beautiful section of BA, then I highly recommended this tour!
