What you'll do
This trip will take you around Sham Shui Po, one of the oldest neighbourhoods in Hong Kong. It has a long history of the garment industry and an old transportation hub, there's no better place to get a glimpse of the old Hong Kong. We'll start off with snack and a light meal at my favourite street side noodles stall (quite a rare find these days), there you can get all the flavours of a traditional shop. After the meal we'll visit an ultra old-school commercial centre nearby, definitely not the usual shopping centre you know of, you'll see what I mean when you get there. With our lunches sorted it's time to head back to the heart of the old town, where all the market streets are. We'll stroll through the toy street and the electronic street that used to be an old massive second-hand market, there are a few shops that sell very reasonably priced vacuum tubes if you're into that sort of thing. Our final destination before dinner would be the fabric market, there are arrays of fabrics, buttons, beads and also quite a few very nice shops for leather making. Dinner will be at an open air Cantonese hawker, you'll love the sound and the smell, and there's no better way to end this
After completed higher education and professional culinary training in London, I came back to Hong Kong to work in restaurants and finally started my own. Walking to the corners of Hong Kong for food inspirations has naturally become part of my work and favourite pastime! Let me take you on one of my little trips and I'll show you what we eat and how we eat!
